Featuring body-on-frame construction and an optional 4.6L, 333bhp V8, it should offer serious competition to vehicles like the Ford Explorer. It also features three rows of seats, optional air-suspension, hill descent control and a high- and low-range 6-speed automatic gearbox. With the V8 it can tow 7,500lbs. The Borrego goes on sale early this summer.

<![CDATA[ Hyundai Genesis Sedan Revealed One Month Prior To Detroit Auto Show Unveil ]]> At a super-secret special test drive preview for the Korean media, Hyundai Motor Co. unveiled the sports sedan Genesis a full month prior to what was supposed to be the "official" unveil at the Detroit Auto Show and a full month after they showed off the coupe concept version at the LA Auto Show. The car features a rear wheel drive architecture and the new Tau V8 engine which will deliver 375 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai's V6 Lambda engines will also be offered in 3.3- and 3.8-liter editions.

Hyundai officials told members of the media to expect the cheapest version of the Genesis will cost just under $30,000 and top out at just under $40,000 and that Lexus is the target they're gunning for. Although we're assuming this Genesis will be the Asia-spec version of the up-market sedan for the Korean and Chinese markets, with the North American one to be introduced in January, we've got no evidence either way to tell us that this isn't the same vehicle, flair and all, that we'll be seeing next month in Detroit.

<![CDATA[ Hyundai Genesis Badge Revealed...for Chinese and Korean Markets ]]> Hyundai just unveiled the above shiny winged silver name-badge for the new rear-wheel drive power sedan from the Korean automaker. Yes, we know it's not very attractive. But the good news is the badge is only for the Korean and Chinese markets where, according to Hyundai, the wings will "symbolize the spirit of flight and soaring above it all..." Oh yes, they certainly do. Totally. But that's not the only Genesis news from the kim-chee commanders. They've also revealed some engine details...that...we...already...kinda...figured...

Specifically the top-end Genesis sedan will get the new Tau V8 and all 375 of its rampaging horses. The base model will end up receiving a V6 Lambda engine of the 3.3-liter variety and the mid-level gets the 3.8-liter. We're still expecting the world premiere of the new power-sedan to drop cloth at the Detroit Auto Show next month. Fear not, we'll be there.

<![CDATA[ Spy Photos: Hyundai RWD Coupe Spotted...Somewhere ]]> Hyundai's been gearing up their new multi-use rear-wheel drive BH platform for combat, and the platform's going to be putting that "multi-use" term to good use. The Korean automaker's looking at bringing to market all sorts of stuff built atop it including a couple of luxe sedans, a coupe and we're even hearing something about a truck (more on that rumor later today). Good thing they're teaching the salespeople how to sell these back-end bad boys. Well, it looks like someone caught the Tiburon-esque coupe in testing overseas and snapped some pictures of it in all of its potentially V8 Tau-powered hotness. Take a gander at it and let us know what you think in the comments below.
