    Worst title ever. Very misleading Matt.

    The white Tahoe was not stopped by OnStar. The driver swerved, lost control, and crashed.

    The video even says at 28 seconds "Now vehicles like this one, equipped with OnStar..." Then they even show a (newer) Tahoe, utilizing the method, which takes control of the car and slowly applies the brakes. #onstar

    They can also monitor in car conversations, given the handy OnStar mic. Very Orwellian... Same with cell phones though. You cant even activate a cell phone that doesn't have a GPS chip in it anymore. #onstar

    I've always been miffed that my car came with OnStar but not something useful, like a 3.5-mm audio input jack. #onstar

    @brandegee: Mine has a 3.5mm jack but no airbags, ABS, cruise control, or power windows. I know my priorities.

    Can you put a real head unit in, or is it some awful proprietary shape?? #onstar

    @MushyHeirloom: Saab 9-3. Aftermarket is possible, but you lose the data center. The only "good" solution is to solder a plug onto the head unit itself and play a blank CD to fool the player into sending audio to the plug.

    Some DIYers have actually grafted a plug to the OnStar phone line (!), but that seems useless because the audio comes out monophonic. #onstar

    OnStar was used here in Vegas in conjunction with the Patriot Act to record/transmit the owner's conversations in the car. Was used to successfully convict a strip club impresario and several county commissioners. #onstar

    Remind me to disable that capability on any On-star vehicle I ever own.

    That crosses the line. I don't want to be driving one freedom-lovin day and suddenly the CRA (Canadian IRS) shuts my shit down because I didn't pay my taxes.

    Because of On-Star and On-Star-like devices...crap build quality should count, though it's not predictable on short time scales, LA media will have to do something else for a few hours per week.

    @FrankGrimes: Because, as is the case with what happened here, the owner was car jacked so the criminal had the keys. GM cars as it is have engine demobilizers, but those only work if you DON'T have the key. #onstar

    The caption for this article is a bit misleading, because the primary, and most-dramatic, visual accompanying the article appears to be one of a vehicle that was NOT disabled by OnStar.

    The CGI graphic is the part that demonstrates how they disable a vehicle, and PERHAPS the part just after the one-minute mark where the vehicle slows down gradually & the cops pull up behind.

    Just FYI, FWIW, YMMV, etc. #onstar
