Swiss Group Attempts To Ban Just About Anything With An Engine And Wheels

Swiss hippies involved in The Young Green Party have collected 120,000 signatures to validate legislation aimed at banning SUVs, off-road vehicles and sports cars. The referendum on the topic will be held within 18 months and, as far as we can tell, is the most anti-fun, anti-free-market steaming pile of proposal ever considered. Those Swiss and Their Chocolate

Now that we've got show coverage all but wrapped up for the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, we're thinking it's time to show you a bit of Geneva itself. Mindset E-Motion Swiss Hybrid Has Us Questioning Ours

Looking like the three-month premature love child of a Magnum and a VW Karmann Ghia, the Swiss Mindset E-Motion hybrid is going to turn heads if it gets produced. Unfortunately, those heads will be turning in the opposite direction. This scale model is meant to give an idea of a possible production hybrid powered by a small electric engine powered by a 24-horsepower gas engine. As the car weighs less than 1,800 lbs., the hope is to get it to 62 mph from a standstill in less than seven seconds. The company plans to produce 10,000 of these at the low low price of $75,000. Pinch us. Enjoy the video of the prototype and the pics.
