This still isn't even close to as awesome as what the History Channel did: they had a show about the plague creatively titled "The Plague." Their leading sponsor was Red Lobster, which led to the best bumper ever.
"The Plague, brought to you by Red Lobster."
Needless to say, I can't bring myself to ever eat lobster now...
@The Auto Insider: Nah, if I'm gonna get crappy chain seafood, I'm getting it from Long John Silvers. Decent chain seafood, I'm more of a Bubba Gump guy myself, though I haven't been to one in forever. Usually get my overdose of seafood from local restaurants in SF or Santa Cruz.
@SirNotAppearing: That sounded like a "not news" comment. What I mean to say is swine flu is media hype at its worst. There are new variations of the flu each and every year, and this variation is no different.
Summer of the shark Bird flu Swine flu Mad Cow Killer bees Killer chimps
I could go on, but you get the idea. The media is such a joke. Oh! And let's not forget the Caylee Anthony murder case. You know what the top headline was on CNN? "TOT MOM KISSES GAL - SEXY PICS!" This is what the networks have become.
@Jagvar: I'd like to add Global Warming. But I like how several reports on swine flu/H1N1 remind people "not to panic." Who's panicking? Stop saying that.
I did, until I saw they followed CNN. If they explain that it was just for a joke, and someone else sent them the link, I might take them seriously again.
If you think this is bad, I was watching por...Er, a documentary, and right at the best part, a picture of a GT-R came up on the screen, and killed my buzz.
I kinda like the new one, it's grown on me after seeing about 8 or 10 of them. I actually like the nose on it (not the weird headlights). But ever since they brought the Altima out, they've been sticking the Maxima up too high, trying to make it more than it should be. "4DSC" has become "defacto luxury sedan" over the past decade. At least this one is a good step in the smaller size/weight direction. Haven't driven one yet.
I'm a die hard Nissan guy and think they've been going in an eerie direction with that car for the past two generations. The 4DSC moniker is more fitting of the Altima these days as it's less portly and used to come in a SE-R variant.
@.357: I know, its ridiculous. I can't stand their feigned sported attitude. Their sports cars are actually above par, but everything else is either mediocre or substandard. (Sporty speaking, of course.)
Never mind that some people think that it's ok for the tiny nation of Japan to have no less than 6 car makers (Honda / Toyota / Nissan / Subaru / Suzuki / Mitsubishi) and we are barely allowed to have 3.
In other news, Nissan has just released this letter.
NISSAN Motor Co.
We know that everyone is commending Honda for making sure it's workers don't travel anywhere because of the "Swine Flu." Well, here at NISSAN, we don't let any of our employees travel. If their NISSAN Ankle Blackbox senses they have traveled more than 50 feet from the factory of their house, they will be destroyed.
Thank you, from the best car company ever, NISSAN.

I can be blamed for exaggerating and overstating the size and scope of many things, but not the flu...

Well except about taking Jalopnik seriously.
