    The nice thing about this is that you can just use that old Civic motor that you have lying around until the economy springs back, house prices go up and you can get a home equity line of credit so you can buy an LS9.

    Actually, there are plenty of high-quality "kit cars" around, just look for them. Some are even reasonably priced. Most of the US - made kits are designed for V-8s which is fine but if you want a smaller kit car, you have too look to the Brits who have some really sweet 2-place four-cylinder machines, many designed to accept motorcycle engines (Hayabusa!). But with the week dollar, not a bargain. Do a search. Here is one of the many webpages to help you find your particular Kit Car Hell:

    @lilwillie: Have to agree. If I were building one, nothing quite compares to a good Cobra kit car. Some of them are significantly better than the original, and nothing's gonna get you admiring stares quite like it.

    I'm dying to know exactly what purpose those doors serve. Are they supposed to make entry easier Because I'm sure comfort is the #1 concern of everyone buying this thing.

    @Bumblebee: Look at the shape of the body, and tell me how else they're supposed to open? I think this is as close to traditional front-hinged doors you're going to get without the upper part flapping in the breeze at about 90 MPH or so. The only other options I see are gullwing (even more gimmicky, and in your way when you stand up to get out) or Lamborghini-style scissors (tacky and overdone).

    You wish! The only passing to be done, unless you're saddling a Ruf Porsche, is going to be whoever's goosing the loud pedal on the RCR. Even shopping on the low end of the SBC spectrum puts decent power into a really lightweight chassis. You will have a brief opportunity to examine the taillights as it leaves you behind.

    @Rick Astley: I need to find a wrecked RSX and a parka... I know I'm crazy, but it just seems like that would be so much fun to use as a daily driver right now, what with the three inches of snow on the roads. Studs on the front, Blizzaks on the rear, go everywhere slideways at full lock... yeah, I'm smiling just thinking about it.
