Thanks also for all the positive comments. I'll have to give Mike (the owner of the Nova gasser) the url for this page.

It's true, though--very, very rarely do I see a Subaru older than 1995. I knew a guy in Virginia with a '94 Loyale wagon, and occasionally (very occasionally) I'll see a BRAT or a Justy pootin' around, but that's the extent of it.

I like the curled-up hood edge. It's a lot easier to preempt those problems with a 10-buck set of hoodpins than it is to pry open your hood with a tire-iron, trust me.

Not to mention that the color looks more like he splashed through a puddle of baby crap.
Love the color on the 31/32 Ford, though. Just perfect. And the T-bird--way back in 1961 someone craved--and got--a baby blue rocket!

That said, I'm sure that the acquisition of such an emblem would cost an arm and a leg, if you can find one that someone is willing to part with at all. Few things will thrust a man deeper into the pit of despair that is Project Car Hell than a vintage (i.e., pre-EA81) Subaru.

Note the generally hacked-together and dangerous appearance.

My FWD and resultant understeer fills me with pride!

BTW, that's a Microbus, not a Transporter.
I've always liked that era of Thunderbird, and this was a great find, but it looks like it's been crunched in the wrong way and might never be right..
The A using its license plate as a fender as a fender is just fantastic. 'I gotcher regulations all right here!'
And the lifted Nova wagon is tremendous. Looks like it'd do just fine on dirt roads up in the mountains.

Did I mention that I'm highly undercaffeinated, even though Sebastien Vettel won the China GP, 1-2 for Red Bull, in the rain? Sounds like it was a fantastic race.

On the whole, vintage Subarus are horrifyingly rare. They're probably the coolest cars of the Malaise era that no one ever sees.

Funny how a kid who could stare at pictures of Ferrari Mondials and daydream of life on the Cote d'Azur would also think an Alpine White Subaru Wagon with painted steel wagon wheels was just as cool in a different way.

I've never seen a Turbo, but my uncle's second (I think it came before the Lynx, anyway) car was one of these at the opposite end - absolute base wagon, red, the one front-wheel-drive wagon known to mankind.
