OH OH OH HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT! From 1984 to 1987, the Ford Tempo and its Mercury sibling the Topaz, were designed to take absolutely no damage in front end collisions 5MPH or under. Zero. Not a dime in damage. At the time, car makers were only required to have bumpers that would withstand a 3MPH collision.
"The main difference is that the 2010 Legacy's front reinforcement bar is a little taller, more than 6 inches wider, and more than 1½ inches higher off the ground. This kept the Legacy's bumper engaged with the barrier during the test, preventing it from sliding under the barrier. "
So basically, as long as you hit just like the IIHS says you should hit, it will cost you $3,000 less now. However, if you hit any other way, you're screwed all over again. #subarulegacy
They've also managed, much to everyone's surprise, to move the front end of the Legacy from "kinda f'ed up" to "completely awkward and fugly". #subarulegacy

What I'm seeing here is the Japanese equivalent of NASCAR. A car loosely based on a road car you can buy, but has nothing much in common with the car you see turning left (ok, these guys turn right, too) on Sunday.
The only other thing this series probably has over NASCAR is that the technology used is closer to what modern road cars use. Therefore, the race cars can be used as test beds for future technology that they can adapt to road cars.
Other than that, this is another advertising venue for STI, Motul, and Advan. Why do they have a medical TFT maker shown so prominently advertised on their sketches?
@Qutaiba_ELLEEL: Indeed, if they were just shells with logos I'd imagine the NSX, FD, 996, etc. would have been replaced with something currently on the market.
I don't see them in the current lineup, but for years after their respective EOL, SuperGT had Supras and Skylines.
Of course, the fact that last decade's technology can compete with the new stuff means there is significant modification, just not to the extent that there's nothing to the badge.

I think Subaru is going in a full circle. They are getting so ugly that eventually they'll look good. A bit like when I drink myself sober... yeah that's what is happening here!

It is quite possible the most awkwardly disjointed design in decades. And those aren't flattering decades either. #subarulegacy

But still FIA-GT series is way more closer to the real car than NASCAR .
