Obesity is a serious disease in this country and we don't mean to make fun of it, but video of a half-naked overweight person losing his pants while trying to get his Dodge Stratus to the side of the road is just too hilarious not to use. There's so much crack we wonder if this video wasn't shot in Baltimore. We're also curious how the videographer managed to be driving by with a camera, but we'd never doubt someone needing to push a Dodge Stratus. Enjoy the full moon.

<![CDATA[Wife Crashes Sentra into Husband, Beats Him up]]> Because the story is a bit vague, we have to assume that Lauren Evans of Des Moines, Iowa really loves her Nissan Sentra. Maybe it's a classic SE-R with an SR20DT swap and JDM bumpers? That's the theory we've got for what happened after the 19-year-old accidentally struck a parked Dodge Stratus that happened to be owned by her husband. What else would explain why she went all Amy Winehouse on him and "threw punches at him and put him in a headlock." It couldn't be that she cared about the Stratus.

Like all good teenage husbands, the Stratus owner told the cops that he wanted to file an assault report against his young bride. So either she's a serious car nut, just a nut, or Mr. Evans is a cheating, lying scumbag. Let this be a reminder that the best way to respond if your spouse hits your ride is to speak calmly and find your mace. [Des Moines Register]

<![CDATA[In Russia, Car Rent You!: Volga to Build Chrysler Models]]>

Russia's GAZ, former builder of The People's Tractors and current capitalist exploiter and purveyor of post-Communist Volgas, has obtained a license to produce Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus models in an effort to "improve the technical level" of the company's cars (oh dear), according to an official. As part of the deal, the venerable industrial firm acquired all tooling used to build the current generation of those cars — currently the product of DaimlerChrysler's Sterling Heights plant — as well as a license to sell new models based on those Chrysler platforms. The company will also buy supplies of Chrysler's old workhorse 2.4-liter four-bangers that power those cars (as well as the PT Cruiser) from the DCX plant in Santillo, Mexico. <![CDATA[Calling Emma Peel: Avenger Spy Shot?]]>

We hope the boys at Allpar will excuse our neglect (geek excuse: we switched RSS readers, and dropped their feed somehow). But just because we're a few days late doesn't mean we can ignore a shot of what may be the next-generation Dodge Avenger, looking very Dodge-like in new grill and redesigned body. One of the site's readers spotted this shot in a Chrysler video presentation, and froze it (there's also a rear view). Mopar experts believe it's the next Avenger due (along with the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring) for the 2007 model year. Oh yes, it's quite an improvement.

Toyota Camrys, watch your backs! Dodge's new Avenger may be on the scene, ready to cause a violent difference of opinion in the midsized car segment. A reader at GM InsideNews spotted what could be the (masked) Avenger at a filling station, readying itself for several thousand miles of note-taking by engineers. We were expecting it to come out in 2007, but there's no word from Chrysler as yet, so maybe 2008 is more likely. [Thanks to Michael for the tip.]

<![CDATA[Dodge: Stratus Out Avenger (Back) In]]>

Dodge won't pin the Stratus badge on its next-generation midsize sedan. Instead, it will reportedly go with Avenger, a name that badged a Dodge sport coupe during the late 1990s. Dodge also chose the Avenger name for the 2003 concept vehicle (pictured), which introduced the world to the new, car-truck design direction that will launch with the 2007 Caliber. We're not sure what form the Avenger's revenge will take (and on whom? Toyota Camrys?), but if car-on-car tire slashings rise in the midsize segment, we'll have a suspect.
