The fact that he offers to happy to sell the (mismatched) Fiat wheels for $250 and then scrap the rest of the car says it all. I'd rather have a Strada...
Too bad the owner didn't finish before he lost his nerve, or came to his senses...as a project, it's about half done, but as a LeMons racer it's about 90% done... hmm... excuse me a moment -
(sound of head banging on table coming from next room)
There, I feel better now. Weren't we talking about a Cougar in a junkyard?
@HoonThatFerrari: I think there's a theme right there. !/2 from a guy with a screen name of 62ImperialCrown (Now that would make a great LeMons Car right there!), and 1/2 from a guy with a screen name of HoonThatFerrari (A car that will never be cheap enough to run in a LeMons event EVER).
Team ImperialFerrariYugo. Paint the car an appropriate shade of red, make plywood fins with appropriate Imperial Tail Lamps, (or better yet, take 4 Lantern Type round lens flashlights, and mount them to the front bumper, like the Imperial), Make sure the front fenders have a Ferrari Crest, a wing type spoiler at the ass end, and voila, one hell of a theme.
Anyway, it has a Fiat Engine..... and doesn't Fiat own Ferrari? Oh, and look, they own most of Chrysler now.... How's that for Karma?
@HoonThatFerrari: You guys don't have a hair on your collective ass if you don't go through with this. This has gotta be the perfect car for LeMons. Turbocharge it and you would gain mucho respect.
@UDMan: Looks like we have a few folks that are up for it... how would we do this, gang? Would it be feasible? Chances are none of us live anywhere near each other, so logistically, could we even pull it off? I'm in west Texas... where are the rest of you potential Team ImperialFerrariYugomino members located?
@UDMan: You'd want to use a couple movie usher's flashlights for the taillights as well.
If I'd kept that '62, it would qualify as I paid $500.00 for it (although those were 1982 dollars). Tough as a tank for the back roads of the San Diego reservations and an excellent highway cruiser - until a Nova hit it in front of my house and shoved it into the curb which screwed up the front end. (The bastard got away, too.)
@62imperialcrown: Want to buy it as a LeMons car for even cheaper? Have someone buy the wheels and offer the guy $200 scrap value on the car. Then you can put another $300 into it before racing!
@HoonThatFerrari: Well,I'm in the Northeast.... Perhaps you saw that I was able to form a team from all over for the New England Lemons event, with drivers from Ohio, Cali, and the New York Metro Area, wiht a mechanic from Long Island, and a car from Vermont (The infamous 63 Corvair)... so it could be done.
@UDMan: Well, If someone who knows how to go about this (I've never been involved in a LeMons event) can coordinate, then I'm game! And, I'll put my money where my mouth is... I'll pony in with a thousand upfront - that'll cover the cost of the car, and at least a portion of the safety upgrades.
That is, providing the first purchase we agree to make are new wheels lugs all-around...
For a minute there, I really thought Lambo had lied to us. That last one (with the Carbon aero bits) was supposed to be the last Murc, I was scared they'd started making one more "FINAL" Murcielago. I'm relieved to know it's just a tuner car.

Where and when do I need to show up to help with this project?
This is a perfect storm of perfection.
