    Yeah. I think the monster was the Director of Broadcast Programming at NBC that didn't like the original pilot and didn't pick up the show until Roddenberry (or maybe Desilu) recast and shot another pilot. A disfigured Captain Pike was used to stitch the storyline together to salvage footage (actor Jeffrey Hunter had long since moved on). A younger Pike will appear in J.J. Abrams' new movie.

    They originally wanted to do this scene with young Scotty hooning a car in Scottland....but then they realized no British car would be left running that far into the future

    While I have to admit, it was sort of a cool sequence, but what exactly was the point of sending that vette over the cliff? I was hoping for it to be more like Thelma and Louise.... really though, that's just me. Is it wrong?

    @kors: I had read about the trailer beforehand and assumed that, upon seeing it, some inexplicably good reason would be given for him destroying the beautiful car.


    Instead, I just think Kirk was a little jackass as a kid.

    @SCROGGS!: Between you and me (and the rest of the internets) I really want to see another Next Gen movie, but with different actors... somehow. I haven't really thought that out, but many more people watched Next Gen than ever watched the original series.
