    You'll get quite a warranty, although it's abhorrent to see, and shame you'll surely feel it.


    So get off your ass, and step on the gas, over to a dealer of SsangYong


    They'll greet you with bows, the car's virtues they'll espouse, even though to you it looks like a schlong.

    I can tell you that I, as a car-loving guy, would only do so if faced with a gun.

    Does the warranty require all factory specified maintenance to occur at the dealership? If so, this could be quite lucrative for them.

    @Alfisted: That's usually how it works (see: Chrysler's "lifetime" powertrain warranty. First owner only, mandatory annual inspection)

    I suppose I should don my flamesuit before saying this, but I don't think that thing is particularly ugly.. Regardless, prove to me that that vehicle would actually last 250,000 miles, and I'll support the company's bid to take over GM.

    C'mon, even in the wide-open spaces of the US, Texas and western states in particular, the 250K in 5 year thing means you drive for work, which I'm certain, is an exception to the rule.


    You'd have to drive 250 miles per working day to average 50K/yr, which isn't going to happen. Who has a 3.5 hour commute, and that's hauling some serious Korean ass, each way, per day.


    I've had a 50 mile drive, each way, and it sucked. 250 miles. Fuck it, move, ya moron.

    @accept it, the global economy is hosed for a while: See my other post, 30-50k miles a year isn't unheard of for a sales rep covering a large multi-state territory.

    That's exactly the reason my father now has a Dodge Caliber as a company car. He's a sales rep and drives about 40k+ miles a year. He used to provide his own car, so he would get something for about $7k with ~80-100k miles that rode good and was fairly reliable/cheap to repair and drive it into the ground in 4-5 years. He made out pretty good getting reimbursed for milage.


    The owner's son started working for the company and thought it would be better for the company to have company cars. He got 3 base model/rental special Dodge Calibers because they had the lifetime powertrain warranties. The sales reps didn't even get choice of color, no power locks, no cruise control. To top it off my dad had just bought a 2000 Lincoln Contienetal and spent big buck to get the transmission reuilt to replace his S-Blazer that got totaled out with hail damage. Not to mention he big pay cut for losing the milage reimbursement.

    Ugly? Looks mostly like a watered down Mercedes. The warranty ought to encourage lots of folks to make the jump. Hyundai sure had to rely on it when they entered the US market. And it's pretty cheap, considering UK taxes.
