    I like the looks of it, but I wish they'd done a little more under the hood than just add 10hp and shave off 175lbs. I could get the same performance increase by just popping a Tornado in and leaving my wife at home. #porscheboxster

    Please, no more complaints about the top looking like an afterthought or not sealing well around the windows.

    It's a roadster, not a convertible.

    The top _is_ an afterthought. It's not supposed to keep you warm, toasty, and cocooned in silence. It's to keep crap out of your car when you park it, or to get you home without soaking your interior if your Saturday drive is cut short by a surprise rain shower.

    Do you also whine about the top on a Lotus Seven? #porscheboxster

    I'm rather unimpressed by those rear humps - it seems like an idea that worked better in theory than in execution. And the convertible top is the most awkward-looking thing since the Murcielago Roadster's glorified hairpiece. #porscheboxster

    I normally think I sort of "get" brand strategy, but can someone explain what the point of a Boxter S is if this thing's available? Are there really that many subsegments in Porsche's entry model? #porscheboxster

    @snapoversteer 'bout to get told: I hear ya. I think it's due to the impracticality of it. Furthermore I can't think of a car for sale today that is more of a pure sports car than this, which makes it awesome. Love the door handles. #porscheboxster

    @Roggin: Ha! Delete door handles but keep AC. Actually makes perfect sense to me. I also appreciate the 5-point compatible seats, but one our local tracks requires your rollover protection to clear your helmet by a few inches. I wouldn't mind taller hoops.

    I don't know that it's more pure than an Elise, but I do like it much better than the Boxster S. #porscheboxster

    Very nice-either the Boxter lends itself more readily to the Speedster look than the 911, or they've done a better job of integrating the design, but this works for me. Looking at the profile though, I can't help but think how a cut-down windshield would sex it up-and even more importantly, make it that much less practical. Speaking of which, its hard to imagine this as someone's one-and-only Porsche, though I doubt that's the intended demographic. Though maybe someone in sunnier climes than mine could make it work. #porscheboxster

    I'm surprised that they've randomly done this, but not for their 40th Anniversary Edition, or for the 550 Spyder Tribute version. But I like!

    I don't generally give a rat's ass about Porsche but it sounds like a 320hp boatload of fun. Dropping 80kg and gaining a medium Briggs worth of power can't be bad. Saddle up, ride that rascal.

    The one thing that doesn't really compute is the roadster top. I'd make it a hardtop. Stiffer, lighter, faster. Yeah, yeah, yeah - Spyder. I get it. Still. #porscheboxster

    Isn't the Boxster already a 'Spyder' by design? They couldn't have dubbed this the RS?

    This does kind of start to beg the question, though - is this the Boxster that is finally good enough to make you actually WANT it over a 911?

    ...I'm certainly mulling. Lightweight is just more fun.

    @ThreeLitre: the 911 has too much technology and comfort unless you get into the gt2/gt3 cars.technology weighs a lot, and the 911 isnt the purist car it once was.it's more luxury oriented that the pre 993 versions. I'm a huge cayman/boxster fan for that reason. #porscheboxster

    @SantaRita: I largely agree. The 996 definitely went the luxury GT route, but the 997 has come back. The level of refinement in them is certainly up there, but (and I say this having never even come close to having the opportunity to drive a modern 911) I think the 997 does have a very purist streak to it still.

    But I am with you on the 993. Want one of those very badly. #porscheboxster

    @Miscellanea: The Caymen has usable storage space, but still doesn't compare to a front engine car of the same size. A 370Z holds luggage for two people, and a 135i has a ton of space with fold down seats. I guess I meant to say I wouldn't a have a Porsche as an only car. #porscheboxster

    Nice car. I guess they got over their worry that the Boxster might cannibalize 911 sales.

    Sixty large for the 'entry level' Porsche means that I'll be waiting a few years before I pick mine up. Perhaps they have developed a special financing package for unexpectedly underemployed investment bankers? #porscheboxster
