Ferrari GT Spied Again, Still Teasing Us In Camo

With just under 8 days until the official reveal of the new Ferrari GT, our anticipation keeps rising as the countdown clock keeps ticking. These new shots show off the camouflaged rear end of the upcoming stallion, an angle we haven't seen much of. Interesting to note are the vertically stacked tailpipes, something not seen on any other current Ferrari model. Technical details are still unconfirmed, but whatever kind of engine is in there, it sure sounds pretty dang good. More »

2009 Dodge Ram R/T, Redux?

Yet again, we've got another shot of what's purported to be a 2009 Dodge Ram R/T (or perhaps it's a 2010 Dodge Ram SRT8 or maybe even a 2011 Dodge Ram Rumble Bee...whatever) caught over at Micro Center at 14 Mile and John R in Troy. Again, we've no idea what it is, but it's obviously some kind of test vehicle — whether mule or otherwise. Whatever it may be, please feel free to continue the speculation — as usual — in the comments below. That's what they're there for apparently. (Hat tip to James!)

Lexus IS Mystery Solved: It Was An Endurance Racer In Germany With The Candlestick

Remember that mystery Lexus IS circling the ring last week? Due to the camo, guesses as to what it could be ranged from a new hybrid to a mid-cycle refresh. Turns out that the most obvious answer was right: it's a race car. Those questionable hood bumps were merely an illusion created by the camouflage. This is the TME/Team Gazoo IS 250, which competes in the ADAC endurance series and can be seen fighting for the Rennstrecken Trophy at the ring. The fastest lap? Just under 10:58. Though not quite Cadillac CTS-V fast, the IS is in a group that only allows vehicles with displacements from 2.0- to 2.5-liters (sorry Lexus IS-F). The spy report from those Columbos at KGP below the jump.

Ford F-100 Coming In 2011?

The Ford Ranger's just about ready to kick the bucket, gas prices are higher than the dress neckline of a Texas polygamist cult and CAFE standards — well, let's just say they don't leave much room for error on the high side of the gas guzzle range. Sounds like high time Ford announced a new pickup truck, doesn't it? Perhaps. But only if said pickup truck is the purported return of a badge not seen from Dearborn since 1983 — F-100. That's right, we're hearing rumors this morning of a mini-pickup based on the current F-150. Well, it'll be based on the F-150 in look, feel and most importantly not in size. If it's coming, we're told to expect a Ford F-100 at 9/10ths the size of the 2009 Ford F-150 to hit dealer lots in the 2011 model year. More »

Fisker Karma Hybrid Testing In Southern California

Despite whispers of vaporware and only a little more than four months since the original concept was debuted at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, Fisker has handed out a set of six images of the Fisker Karma testing in Southern California. The prototype looks shockingly similar to the show car and is wearing only the lightest of camouflage, just vinyl stickers which do little to obscure the cars handsome body work. More »

2010 BMW Z4 Interior

Whoops, looks like fräulein Helga parked the 2010 BMW Z4 mule in the wrong place at the wrong time. Several very nice interior shots have surfaced showing the layout and interfaces of the pending Z4 revision. The dash is still covered in a thick felt and that blue and white propeller on the wheel is taped over, but there's no mistaking some elements of the new car. More »

Mystery Roadster Snapped in Slovenia, We Scratch Heads

European based reader Andrej sent us pics last night of a sleek and compact roadster caught in transport on a flatbed and it has us scratching our heads. The car is certainly a front engine, rear drive deal with healthy sized disc brakes all around and a single low-mounted grille (which seems to count out the Yes! Roadster). If it wasn't so small, we'd guess at a replacement for the now long-in-the-tooth Honda S2000, but that's just dreaming. One item throwing us off a bit is the polychromatic paint — why would anyone slather a test mule with a paint job that spendy?

BMW 1-Series Hatchback Spotted With Manufacturer Plates

We've got to give credit to Phil, a BMW 1-series hatchback is something that those keen of eye might have missed driving around here on US soil and, even if some would have noticed it as an oddity, they might not have been so quick as to get such good photos of the thing. That it has New Jersey Manufacturer plates is no surprise, as most special Bimmers do. The question is, will the BMW 1-Series five-door, which is sold in Europe, join the 2009 BMW 1-Series already here in the states?

Mystery Lexus IS: Turbo? Hybrid?

Let the Nürburgring mysteries continue! Today's super secret car out testing on the 'ring is clearly a Lexus IS, but the intel from our spies at BridgeToGantry is limited at the moment. Under that camo, there's some sort of faded paint job inspired by a '70s custom van which leads us to believe the car may be displayed to the public sans cladding at some point. But what would it be showing off? Well, there appears to be some strange lump in the hood, but the front bumper looks to be from a standard IS rather than the fire-breathing Lexus IS-F. We're being speculative, but we wonder if this is some sort of V6 hybrid and/or turbocharged model. The exhaust note does sound like a relatively quiet V6 to our ears, but you should have a listen for yourself. Make the jump for a quick video of action on the track.

Porsche Cayenne Junior Spied Testing At Nürburgring

Think the Porsche Cayenne is a massive sacrilegious behemoth? Well, it seems that Porsche now wants to make another SUV that's not huge. What you see here is said to be Porsche's upcoming Audi Q5-based tall wagon. Shorter, narrower, and presumably cheaper than the Cayenne, this new offering will do battle with the BMW X3, Land Rover Freelander, Acura RDX, Infiniti EX, and Mercedes GLK, and the err... Audi Q5. 2009 Corvette ZR1 Trying To Set Record Lap?

To say the 2009 Corvette ZR1 is a fast car, that would be an understatement. But just how fast? Well it looks like the General has taken aim on setting a record time at the Nürburgring. Rumors are swirling of smack-talking engineers claiming the big bad 'Vette can out-pace the Nissan GT-R. Those claims would mean the ZR1 would have to set a time of less than 7:29 around the Nordschleife.

2010 chevy cobalt

2010 Chevy Cobalt

A single, very clear and largely uncamoflaged image of what we assume to be the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt has emerged from GM Inside News. This new photo seems to confirm some of the other heavily camo'd shots we've seen today, but this is by far a better image. The styling on the new Cobalt is extremely reminiscent of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, it just seems to have been left in the dryer a little too long. There's a larger version as well as some discussion about this new model below.

2010 Lotus Eagle Laps Nürburgring, Continues Search For Joker

The upcoming Lotus 2+2 known as the "Eagle" was spotted again, this time at the Nürburgring. Unfortunately, it still is wearing the full camo inspired by Batman's mask. The report from Bridge To Gantry is that the Lotus isn't even doing hot laps, instead just cruising around at a casual pace. that's disappointing because the Eagle is supposed to be powered by a juicy 3.5-liter V6. It seems like Lotus is trying to take down the Porsche 911, but we'll have to wait and see just how fast it is, and what it looks like in unmasked Bruce Wayne form.

2010 dodge ram srt-10

2010 Ram SRT-10 Caught At The Track?

What is this now? A blacked out new 2009 Dodge Ram with a manufacturers plate lurking around a Waterford Race Track in Michigan? Why it certainly is. Why would a truck already unveiled be all blacked out and at a race track? Perhaps it's the hi-po model. Oh how delightfully gossiptastic. We have very literally zero proof this is anything other than a run of the mill Ram, but we're going to throw it out that this may be the Ram SRT-10, maybe just the R/T, but it's being subjected to some laps around the track. True or not we're willing to start some rumors.

BMW X3 Powetrain Mule Probably Cooler Than BMW X3

What can be said about the BMW X3 that we haven't already been through? It's a compact SUV which would be better off as a four-by-four station wagon, just as AMC showed us. Funny thing though when you're developing a new X3 to come out sometime before 2011, you may need to wrap the test power train in something other than the final sheetmetal — like the modified body of an E91 3-series station wagon. Another funny thing about the situation is the resultant car looks freakin' great! With this mule we're really beginning to wonder if the X3 wouldn't be better off this way. What do you think? Ferrari F149 Dino California GT Thingamacar Caught Without Crazy Rear Camo

Despite the deadline for the really real pictures of the new Ferrari F149 (or Dino, or California GT) being supposedly only days away now, new shots have surfaced showing the true shape of the car. Now we're getting somewhere, we can see the tail end drops off with a very Berlinetta-like gusto and the overall shape reminds of the Maranello, though much smaller. The camo also suggests a fairly large radiator intake and two smaller intakes for something down low below the headlights. Very interesting Ferrari, this small GT thing you're working on has got potential. (h/t to Ard-Jan)

V8-Powered Pagani Zonda In Action?

We dig the Pagani Zonda. It doesn't just have beautifully crafted details and fantastic style, it's got all the speed and power to back it up. But that big Mercedes 7.3-liter V12 has been around for a while now. So what's the plan for future models? Word is that Pagani is planning on switching to good ol' V8 grunt. Some people are guessing it'll be the dry-sump lump from the McLaren SLR, but we'll let you listen to this clip and decide for yourself.

2009 Range Rover Sport Facelift?

At first glance, this may appear to be just another box-on-wheels Range Rover, but this is actually supposed to be the 2009 Range Rover Sport. Look closely and you'll notice the front end has been subtly reshaped to feel a bit more like the recent Land Rover LRX Concept. Yawn. So they re-drew a few lines, what's the big deal? According to the spies, the 2009 model will be available with a new 5.0-liter V8. More »
