    I love it. It looks like a 911 SHOULD look.


    Normally I dislike the 911 (haven't liked it since the original widebody turbo days of the 80s) but this one looks like it should. I want one.

    @How Wankelin' Got His Sig Back: I want to know when Porsche tuners are going to start using the 3.8L in their high-end turbo tuner cars. I wonder how much more power they could get given that extra 0.2L of displacement.

    @elwood: Probably quite a bit more. But it wouldn't be the displacement, it would be the direct injection.


    The DI motors are probably tricky to boost heavily.

    @brandegee: I'm sure the electronics on the direct injection motors are much more difficult to deal with. But, in addition to much more precise fuel delivery, as I understand it the vaporization of the fuel directly in the cylinder has a significant cooling effect on the intake air charge, giving you much lower intake temps, which ought to allow for the potential to crank the boost even higher.

    @elwood: Good point. Not sure without looking it up, but I think the energy released by the phase change of fuel to vapor is retained by the injection system instead of transferring to the intake air. That amounts to quite a lot of heat that's not added to the system, in addition to the more efficient combustion. I'd guess you'd be flirting with 1,000hp easily at the same boost pressure.

    @jip1080: I think it would take more like 3 seconds before is all over... You at least need to get it up to 60 mph before it's counted as a good wall hit and it takes your players last remaining life.
