This race highlights a concern I have with Brawn. Do they have the means to keep developing the car through out the season? The car was brilliant at the beginning, but the others are coming. Can they stay ahead?
The race was ok. I was pulling for Rubens, but was happy to see Webber win. With the Brawns running in the lower half of the points scoring positions it only makes good sense for Jenson to finish in front of Rubens. My wife and I were debating if the team would make it happen or not. I don’t know if it happened on purpose or not, but we can all see the end results.
@f86sabre: I agree. IIRC, Brawn basically used much of what would have been the Honda 2009 car which has been in development since very early on in 2008 season. OTOH, they also laid off many workers after the 2009 season began to cut costs. And probably cut back on development as well. Also they lack sponsorship, and especially as Virgin said they are unlikely to be able to afford them next season. Brawn are in trouble if they do not find enough finance and R&D for the coming years to fully establish themselves in F1, or they would fade and fade and die.
@f86sabre: Interesting point. I would think that Ross Brawn knows that he can't go all season without development, but his team may not have the resources to do so at this time. Or, they are working on something and it is taking some time so they haven't been able to implement it.
Oh, and heart click to you. For one, you made a very intelligent comment. Also, the F86 was a great plane.
I think Rubens definitely could have won the race, and that maybe Brawn messed up his chances by letting him out right behind Massa after pitstop 1, and failing to fuel him properly on pitstop 2. Still, Ross Brawn isn't going to admit anything about favouring Button. Heck, maybe he's trying to get Barrichello to break the contract from his side and then put some genius young driver in his shoes.
Great race by Webber, what a great win, and what an emotional celebration. Also, it was good to see red on the podium again.
And where are the crayon diagrams of Ross's brain?
Is Bernie setting up another interview with the Times to expound on how apartheid is the ultimate societal order? At least, that's what his buddy Max would say.
I watched some of this, while in the middle of doing other things. It sure looks like the changes to the cars have made people a lot zippier, and contact more likely.
It was an interesting race, and certainly points to an exciting second half of the season, but my main thought about it was that Adrian Sutil was kicking ass. I know the little collision with Raikonnen was kinda his fault, but I was gutted. He deserved some points.
The Lambo looks and sounds great. But all Lambos look and sound about the same. It's hard to get worked up when every iteration is, to my eye, virtually identical.
@Sportwagons, more popular than Grimace: Plus the naming schemes just confuse the issue further. Seemingly random sequences of numbers and letters make sense only to diehard fanboys. But people like me don't know a 2010 Mucielago XXXX-XX-X from a 2002 Lambo XXX-XX-X
@Sportwagons, more popular than Grimace: It's not that hard. The difference is more noticeable at the back, where 90% of us will look anyway. There's the Murcielago
I can't watch this, as it's a spoiler to me, but even if the Veyron whomps the McLaren, I'd take a McLaren in a second over said Bugatti...unless, should I take the Bugatti, I can immediately trade it for two McLarens.
On another note, does the Bugatti have some "Launch Mode" that makes the rear lights flash oddly or is there some synchronization problem between the camera and the car's LEDs?
