@lilwillie: I thin we've all grown a great deal here today. I'm so proud. And after we rescue this poor orphan, a big group hug. Then maybe we punch a few kittens for old time's sake.

Between the dirt lot and bald tires, pulling the Citation out of the way should be easy enough, even with the front wheels locked.

    Then, Corvette.

Methinks we need to wait for this guy to go on vacation, though.

@Foozy Ploosh Room: Judging by the state of his abode, I doubt this guy is heading to Bermuda anytime soon. No, for this guy, a vacation is an evening of drinking at a Quiet Riot Concert, held at a roadside bar in North Idaho.

Unsuprisingly, the 'Vette still looks better.

I'm assuming the Citation is there to protect against what must have been several kidnap attempts on the Vette.

Good to see somebody found a worthwhile use for an old Citation!

I'm guessing this is one of those "nope, not for sale, not to anybody at any price" cars that the owner has been hanging onto for years with vague intentions of fixing up some day. And every time someone offers to buy it, or curses them for letting it rot, it further convinces them they have something truly special sitting immobile in their yard. And strengthens their resolve to never, ever sell it.

@ChasG: Either that or it IS for sale at some ridiculus price because the moron who owns it saw a restored L88 Vette sell at Barrett-Jackson for $500k so his hunk has to be worth at least $50k. This when $5 for one in this condition would be close to crack pipe price at $5k (assuming the rest of the car is as bad as the outside, and it isn't a Z06).

Nice snow tires on it too.

    Dead Man's Curve:

I was storin' in my Stingray out behind the barn,

When the Google Prius pulled up on the lawn

He rolled down the window of his smug hybrid,

And asked me why I'd left the Corvette for dead

I said "Get lost buddy - my 'Vette's just fine,

If you don't believe me, let's race here one time

In fact I'll go you one better, if you've got the nerve,

Let's race all the way -- to Dead Man's Curve"

(Dead Man's Curve) it's on Google maps

(Dead Man's Curve) You've maybe been there perhaps?

(Dead Man's Curve) The Google results say:

"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve"

The street was deserted 'cause the economy's bad

We were buggin' each other, me and the Google man

I popped the clutch when the light turned green,

His cameras caught 360° of the scene

I flew past La Brea, Schwab's and Crescent Heights,

And all the Prius could see were my six taillights

I knew I had him beat, then I started to swerve,

But I pulled her out and there we were - at Dead Man's Curve

(Dead Man's Curve) is no place to play

    (Dead Man's Curve...

(Spoken): "Well, the last thing I remember, Doc,

    I started to swerve

And then I saw the Google Prius slide into the curve

I know I'll never forget that horrible sight,

And I can now google it any day or night

Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve...

(Dead Man's Curve) it's on Google maps

(Dead Man's Curve) You've maybe been there perhaps?

(Dead Man's Curve) The Google results say:

"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve" (fade)

There is a '68 GTX 440, 4speed, Dana60 sitting near my house, in slightly better shape than this and I tried to buy it 10 years for a price that was well above it's market value.

    It's still there.

@LTDScott: 3 taillights = popular customization trick on C2's in the Sixties.

Also popular: wheelwell cutouts (check) and believe it nor not, in 1964 it was all the rage to cut out the split between the 2 rear windows and put a one piece (commonly Lexan) window. Luckily, the retards were happy to stop at just ruining the quarters and tail panel.

The sins of our forefathers and all that.

@pres: I've seen guys fix worse, and truth be told its all fiberglass so there isn't really any rust on the body, except maybe the windshield halo and the trim. Thats all easily bought from Ecklers and other suppliers. You can even get a new frame for the thing. I'm sad to see it there but it is not the worst thing ever, now a 63 Impala that was there as long as this vette would be a lot worse.

I bet I could fix it.

The owner of this car needs to be pulled out of their house, kicking, screaming and then summarily beaten, flogged and drawn and quartered and their head placed on a pike as a warning to all who would dare do this to any vintage iron, especially a split window 'ray.
