Exodus 1
…
6 Now General Charles Foulkes and all his brothers and all that generation died, 7 but the Dutch were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.
8 Then a new Prime Minister, who did not know about General Charles Foulkes, came to power in the Netherlands. 9 "Look," he said to his people, "the Dutch have become much too numerous for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, with all the cars on the road, will speed and hurt people."
11 So they put photo radar over them to oppress them with speed limits, and they charged them penalties for going over the speed limit. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Politicians came to dread the Dutch 13 and taxed them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with speed limits on highways and byways and with all kinds of penalties and taxes; in all their penalties the Politicians charged them ruthlessly.
15 The Prime Minister of the Netherlands said to the Dutch police, whose cars were DAFs and Spykers, 16 "When you see the Dutch drivers on the road, if they are speeding charge them, if not, let them go." 17 The police, however, feared God and did not do what the Prime Minister of Holland had told them to do; they let the speeders go. 18 Then the Prime Minister of Holland summoned the police and asked them, "Why have you done this? Why have you let the speeders go?"
19 The police answered Pharaoh, "Dutch drivers are not like Politicians; they are vigilant and good drivers."
20 So God was kind to the police and the people increased and became even more numerous. 21 And because the police feared God, he gave them families of their own.
22 Then the Prime Minister gave this order to all his people: "Every corner will have a speed camera, and every speeder will be punished."
Exodus 2
1 Now a man of the house of Robben married a Zeeland woman, 2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she raised him for 18 years. 3 But when she could raise him no more, she sent him off to learn to drive. Then she sent him off in a truck to cruise the highways. 4 His lawyer stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.
5 Then the Prime Minister turned on the cameras on the highway, and his contractors were monitoring then. They saw the truck driving on the highway and triggered their camera to get it. 6 They photographed him repeatedly, and did not feel sorry.
7 Then his lawyer asked the police, "Shall I go and get the man and prove his is not the truck you are looking for?"
8 "Yes, go," they answered. And the lawyer went and got the man’s truck. 9 The police said to him, "You will have to prove it was not your truck, or you will have to pay us." So the lawyer took the man and advised him. 10 The man received the tickets, and took them to his lawyer and became his client. The man was named Martin, saying, "He had too many tickets."
@engineerd: Mr. Engineerd, that was brilliant. I sure hope your boss in on vacation or out of the office or something, because that must have taken all morning.
If they come to my area, I will hunt them down. I will encourage the community to do the same. Really, all you need is some spray paint to cover the lens. Takes about 0.5sec to tag it and bolt.
Maybe the machines are calibrated to create a bunch of extra violations, just to cover the cost of printing and mailing tickets that are the size of a FREAKING POSTER!

@Alexander Card:
In Dutch however it translates into 'foolproof and 100% accurate system for extra tax generation while insuring safety for everyone wearing wooden shoes'. Strange how two languages can differ. How does it translate into English?
"Prove his innocence". I hate that. That alone is why speed/light cameras should be illegal--they require you to prove you're innocent. That's completely bass-ackward of the way it should be.

@leavethegun-takethecannoli: Within days of introducing them in France, there was such a consensus that every speed camera had been destroyed...and the local authorities just gave up.
@leavethegun-takethecannoli: +1000.I got tagged by a red-light camera in Oregon. My speed was below the speed limit, and the yellow was obviously shorter than it should have been, but it was less expensive to pay the $100, or whatever it was, rather than take it to court.
Still pisses me off.

@FP: Your Volvo is awesome! Anyway: Nope. It was on an artcar taurus ([www.blert.net] ), a Cadillac Fleetwood ([www.blert.net] ), a post-apocalyptic Nova ([www.blert.net] ), a patchworks Subaru ([www.blert.net] ) a boring Subaru Outback, and finally the xB above.

Fact: Most accidents happen at intersections at speeds under 30mph.
For safety reasons, let's speed it up.
