So, if I had an old Mercedes 5-Cyl diesel laying around, I could cook meat very, very slowly, but for at least 300,000 times?

I really, really hope it was thoroughly cleaned before conversion from mill to grill. And that he never used Z-Max. Shelby hisself tells me that stuff soaks into the metal.

is that a photo with Jacques Pepin [en.wikipedia.org] or Vic Edelbrock [www.nmradigital.com] either person would be fitting.

But not a KKK turbo, because then it would only cook white meat.

Cheap sheet metal approximation of a V8 grill [fabgrills.com]:$399
Custom homemade V8 grill using actual engine parts, engine stand and some hot airbrush work: Priceless

@TimTim: Agreed. The sheet fabbed grill might be less cumbersome to move around, but it's missing a lot of "awesome". Plus, where would be the pride in having purchased a novelty grill, rather than making your own out of an ACTUAL SBC.

Porsche's highly efficient xenon powered grill is nice, but the burner's in the back. Nissan's grill is based on the Playstation 3. While great, you can't use Temperature Control, or you risk voiding the warranty.

@Dedend: I've got the v12 in my XJS, the HE v12 waiting to be installed in my Checker, and another Jag V12 waiting for a project in which to be installed. I was leaning toward a '55 F100, but your comment got me thinking, but then I thought a little longer. I don't know how long the aluminum block would last in such an application.

On the plus side, I might now have a use for the 305 that's going to come out of the Checker. It's not worth anything to anyone, being a 145hp, malaisey 305, so in lieu of scrapping it for a few bucks or trying to sell it for the few bucks that it might be worth to someone...

Either that, or it lies in wait for a 4bbl intake, and installation into a different as yet unnamed project.
