@scroggs: Some vintage Mopar on Mopar fun...A Team Starfish Barracuda, driven by some guy named Petty, vs a Group 44 Racing Dodge Dart drive by Tony Adamowicz at Riverside Raceway in '66
*sigh* It's like a breath of fresh air. 66 really was the best year for the early Barracudas, and this car is built up more or less what I would do to one, given the opportunity. Those dual Offy intakes are too cool. Makes my six's single quad Offy look like a cop-out intake. :P
1966 is my favorite Barracuda, and I have nothing but respect for anybody who hops up a slant rather than doing a V8 swap. Just needs metallic green paint, rallye wheels, and a pushbutton Torqueflite.
Very nice car. I love the idea of a hot rodded slant six. You can get all kinds of neat goodies for these from Clifford Research. I can't tell if this car has headers or not, but you can get those as well.
Yeah, I always liked these Barracudas. Another car I like from the same era is the Rambler Marlin, which has the huge back glass as well.
Oh man oh man oh man: I really, really, really, really, really love the back ends of these early Barracudas (as well as many of the other ridiculously long sloping rear ends of the era, like the early Chargers).
How much is he wanting for it?
These super-Valiants have gone from being the weird wanna-be cool kid in class to their very own class. I wouldn't have driven one then--though a friend had one--in red--but I sure would now.
I swear I'm going to get a bumper sticker that says, "I'd rather be in Alameda."
Because, you know, I would.
As many of you may already know, I am a Mopar man. It brought a tear to my eye to see an early 'Cuda in such great shape. It has even retained its slant six, which means it hasn't been swapped to a V8 and beat on! You very rarely see these cars at shows or auctions, let alone on the street. I would love to buy it, but it's in CA and I have no money, or at least, not enough for a rare car like that. Curse you bad economy!
There's one of these driving around my area on an almost basis, it's painted flat black and is in ok shape but obviously is poorly maintained. It's driven around by a guy who apparently doesn't care that the brake lights don't work and he's risking a very rare car. I have tried to stop him and ask him if he wants to sell it to me when I'm (rarely) not in a hurry, but had no luck so far. Hopefully I can get him to take a fistful of cash for it before he wrecks it.

Great car that you hardly see nowadays. However, the back seat was not a fun place to sit on warm, sunny days because of that huge glass. The Barracuda has a rep of being a Mustang copy, but it was actually introduced two weeks before the 'Stang. The owner of this car has blacked out the grille, which looks a little fussy and busy in its original form.
Wow - it's not like you see those everyday. Wild setup there - a 2 x 1bbl intake for a Slant Six? Then again, Offy has always made intakes with bizarro carb configurations for engines you wouldn't normally think of as hot-rod able..

P.S. I know the song has nothing to do with the car but does it really matter.

And don't forget the 1st-gen Charger. The quirkiness of the early muscle car-era mopars is just great.

Actually, do ask. And I hope you get it.
