Don't the domestics think instead of reinforcing the idea in the avg. (read: uneducated) consumer's mind that ALL they build is trucks and hot rods (read: bad gas mileage) that perhaps it would be a good idea to try convincing people that they make something else?
Raptors, ZR2s, high HP Camaros, etc......... seems roughly as bright as Dodge reintroducung a Hemi Challenger in 1973. #chevysilverado

Translation: 'We're STRONGLY looking into using the paint scheme & ZR2 decals... and the package may include the trail-run comforting contrasting seat stitching...' #chevysilverado

It needs a real skid plate instead of a bumper meant to mimic one. And while we're talking bumpers, why does a show vehicle with no pretensions of street legality not incorporate a prerunner style tubular bumper?
Exposed carbon fiber is played out. Paint the truck all one color.
But not beige. Beige by any other name is just as beige. #chevysilverado

First, 'wheeling is hard on stuff. I don't know too many folks who are inclined to beat the tar out of a truck they just dropped 40 to 50 large on. Better to have an old Jeep and lots of junkyard replacement parts.
Second, lightness (and smallness) counts for a lot on the trail, in the bog or climbing that hill. #chevysilverado

...and as an aside, 300-500hp in this crop of fancy trucks doesn't do you a damn bit of good when finesse and good gear ratios count.
For example, a coworker of mine has a Ram Mega Cab (that he does use for truck stuff, actually), but he knows he'd get high centered or done in by the insanely huge turning radius if he got too far off the beaten path (he hauls an ATV into the area where he hunts this time of year). It's just too damn big to be useful off-road, and he is well-aware of it. #chevysilverado

Building a baja style truck is not "cheap" no matter what you start with. Seems the pre-runner long travel suspension kits and Fox type shocks make these rigs quite a bit pricier than a lifted jeep for crawling.
I guess I'm just saying for it's purpose the Raptor is pretty reasonably priced.
If I were really wanting a pre-runner though, I'd start with a used truck (with character already) and add my own long travel kit, wheels, etc. I'd end up spending as much, but it'd be exactly what I wanted...and a Chevy. #chevysilverado

Of course, a prerunner type truck makes no sense in the climate I live in, either. As such, it's a bit alien to me, in a way. On the other hand, in these parts, there are plenty of guys who actually do creep around in the woods, where suspension travel, horsepower, and articulation (in the context of crawlers) aren't really as useful as plain ol' ground clearance and a short wheelbase. #chevysilverado
