Honda's announced the Civic Si five door appearance package will be available across the entire range.

Whereas the US doesn't even get a hatchback Civic anymore, the Brits now have a whole lineup of sweet little hatchbacks from Honda, now including the Si. The package can be had on all five-door models so if you want the 1.4 liter or 1.8 liter gas model, or the beefy 2.2-liter i-CTDi diesel, you can have it tarted up with Si bits. The package includes painted bumpers, fog lights, mesh front grille and dark chrome door handles and filler door on the outside and partial leather seating and an iPod connector inside.

SPORTY Si INTRODUCED ON CIVIC 5-DOOR

A high-spec new variant of the Honda Civic 5-door goes on sale from September, giving the popular British-built hatchback even sportier looks.

The new Si grade will be available across the entire 5-door Civic range, in all engine variants and transmissions. The 1.4-litre Si model will wear Graphite coloured 16-inch alloy wheels while higher-powered 1.8 petrol and 2.2 diesel Si Civics will sit on 17-inch Graphite coloured alloy rims.

All Si variants will have colour-coded bumpers, front fog lights, a Type R-style mesh front grille and dark chrome door handles and fuel cap – like that on the Championship White Type R. Inside Si models will get half leather upholstery to continue the sports theme, plus a USB port for iPod connectivity.

The Si has been designed to appeal to the Civic's increasingly youthful customer and those who want sporty looks with the practicality of a 5-door. And because the Si grade is available across the Civic 5-door range, those on a smaller budget can also enjoy the Si's distinct looks.

The Civic Si 1.4-litre i-VTEC will go on sale later this year (date to be confirmed), followed by the Civic Si 1.8-litre i-VTEC and Civic Si 2.2-litre i-CTDi.

Three metallic exterior paint colours are available on the new grade: Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl, plus Milano Red as standard.

Pricing
Si grades are priced at £850 RRP over the SE grade
• Civic Si 1.4 i-VTEC Manual - £15,800 OTR
• Civic Si 1.4 i-VTEC i-SHIFT - £16,600 OTR
• Civic Si 1.8 i-VTEC Manual - £16,835 OTR
• Civic Si 1.8 i-VTEC Automatic - £18,160 OTR
• Civic Si 2.2 i-CTDi Manual - £18,305 OTR

The Civic Si 1.4-litre manual delivers good fuel economy of 47.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 135g/km. When paired with the i-SHIFT transmission it delivers improved fuel economy of 49.6mpg and reduced CO2 emissions of 132g/km.

Meanwhile, the Civic Si 1.8-litre manual has CO2 emissions of 155g/km and fuel economy of 42.2mpg. All 1.8-litre engine Civic 5 door models are available with a classic automatic 'box that was introduced early this year, and in Si guise will deliver 169g/km and 38.7mpg respectively. The Civic Si 2.2-litre (manual) achieves CO2 emissions of 139g/km and fuel economy of 53.3mpg.

<![CDATA[Nissan 370Z And Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Models Are A Recipe For Anorexia]]> Nissan took three SI swimsuit models for an O-face-inducing ride down the famous Vegas strip in three 2009 370Zs. That's a whole lot of forced weight loss in one video, ain't it?

We have one thing to ask - Can we play the part of the passenger seat belt next time?

<![CDATA[Honda Civic HFP Concept Sits Efficiently On SEMA Show Floor]]> It may not be the spiritual successor to the CRX HF, but the Honda Civic HFP Concept is the result of Honda Access America — the in-house accessory division — taking a Civic Si and adding lightness. Both exhaust and wheels have been replaced with high-performance ultra-lightweight versions, while an aero body kit streamlines the cD for a slipperier shape. So how much more efficient is the HFP? Well...they don't quite say, but we'd venture a guess that Honda's working in one or two MPG increments here. Press release below the jump.

Honda also revealed a Civic Honda Factory Performance (HFP) Concept sedan that represents a new approach on performance improvement. With more consumer concern about fuel prices, future customers may want to maximize the performance of their vehicles without compromising fuel economy. Honda Access America, Honda's accessory development company, took on that challenge. Through aerodynamic improvements to the next generation HFP body kit, super-light alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, a lighter HFP exhaust system and an upgraded HFP suspension kit, this concept offers the possibility of improving both fuel economy and performance. In fact, a very similar package has proven its worth on the race tracks of Japan on the Civic Type R race car, which campaigned in a spec series called the Super Taikyu Series.

<![CDATA[Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan for 2008]]> A Honda Civic kitted out with Mugen gewgaws and sold in the US? You are correct, sir. Honda says 1,000 copies of the Civic Mugen Si, shown as a SEMA concept last year, will hit US dealerships for around 30 large this October. It's outfitted with such sporting effects as a lowered, sport-tuned suspension, forged aluminum wheels, and full body dress. Under the hood will be the basic Si's 2.0-liter four producing 197 horses, and hooked to a six-speed manual. It's the first Mugen-tuned Honda to arrive in the states, though not the best, and hopefully not the last.

<![CDATA[We Need Some Stinking Doors: Honda Reveals the Civic Si Sedan]]>

A Honda Si Civic sedan? Surely, you jest. (Nope, this is a jest-free post). Remember that concept Si sedan Honda showed off in Chicago earlier this year? It's going into production for 2007. It'll be powered by the same 197-hp four as in the Civic Si coupe, along with the same six-speed manual, traction control and stability assist, 17-inch alloys, and Si interior — all for only 60 pounds' worth of doors. And around twenty grand worth of first-time-buyer financing.

<![CDATA[Huh? The GTI Really Is Fast]]> Reverend Dave's Rally Report #2:
One of the surprises of the day was the fact that the VW GTI really lived up to the all the hype. It really is fast. It really can handle a track day in stock form. And it thoroughly squashed the Civic Si just like my comrades at mph said a few months back.

gtitartancloth.jpgOne ever present comment I've heard about the GTI is how heavy it is(3300 lbs), like it's this hugely negative characteristic. But on the track it was nimble and planted. Two traits I preferred to the Si scaring the crap out of me around the corners with the rubber threatening to lift off the surface at any time. I also took the DSG equipped GTI with the paddle shifters and LOVED it. While it wasn't like the M5, the GTI's paddle reaction time was hardly noticeable and you could downshift hard without any nanny monitors taking over. Niiiiiiiice.

At high speeds the GTI still sounds like it's moving at normal highway rates. The Civic Si let's you know when you hit triple digits by screaming wildly while wind noise suddenly becomes pronounced. The GTI doesn't take notice of 100 mph, it just takes it and asks "What do you say to 120?"

The tartan cloth seats are not my cup of tea, and overall I thought the interior wasn't up to par with the Jetta. But for a fast, fun car that's relatively affordable and looks good in black, I have to give my approval.

<![CDATA[Chicago Premiere: Honda Civic Si Sedan Concept]]>

Send in the hoons! Honda just uncovered a new Civic Si that sports telltale wing, 197hp i-VTEC mill, six-speed manual and four doors. That's right, the Civic Si see-dan, officially a concept car, will be a straight-up 2007 production model when it's introduced later this year (in the fall, says Honda). It also sports 18" alloys, 225/40ZR18 meats and four-piston Brembo stopping gear. The company notes it's the first time in its 20-year, on-again-off-again history the Si has been available in two body styles. Wikkid.

<![CDATA[Honda's Civic Si Concept Uncovered in Chicago]]> With its Civic Si concept, Honda looks to be on track to making its "tuner surprise" model into a player, even it stock form. Aspects of the concept will likely appear in the 2006 production model, due to debut later in 2005, including an updated i-VTEC engine — a 200-horsepower, 16-valve buzzer, with an 8,000 rpm redline, and now-obiligatory 6-speed manual transmission. Sportier still is the Civic's new design swoops, which will likely squelch the contagious yawns inspired by the current model, as often mistaken for an electric car from the 1970s as a modern street machine. We turn now to the latest in the Car Fans franchise for more on the Si. Take it, JCF.
