Scientists are thinking about starting a new geological era: the Anthropocene, the period of geological, environmental and biological transformation of the planet by humans. Cities, towns, shipping routes, global roads and air networks are all changing Earth. This video shows the extent of this change.

Two United States' Air Force F-15 Eagle fighters launched into Canadian airspace to intercept a Korean Air Boeing 777 on April 10, 5:30 Pacific Time. The plane was going to Seoul when it received a bomb threat shortly after takeoff from Vancouver, British Columbia.

After publishing a photo last month, Lockheed Martin has published this video of the F-35 Lightning refueling at night. It's very cool, as you would expect. And I love the smell of kerosene in the morning.

This is NASA's latest project and it looks like a lot of fun. Built by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the US Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake, California, this rocket sled on rails is designed "to replicate the forces a supersonic spacecraft would experience prior to landing."

Even the rich are sinking in Europe: the 198-foot (60.2-meter) superyacht Yogi sunk under a Force 8 storm in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday. This video, just released today, shows the Hellenic Air Force rescuing the passengers in the middle of the gale.

The 984-foot-long cruise ship Costa Concordia ran aground on the island of Giglio, Italy, killing at least three people. More than 4,000 people have been evacuated, but 50 are still missing. The night photos remind me of the sinking Titanic.

I love dogs. I love dogs in cars. They are so happy when they get their heads out of the window and enjoy the wind, the smells and the view. That's why this video made me so happy this morning.
