I'll take Number 8, if I have to have a shorty. VW vans were born to be shorties--not much else was--but the pink is trying too hard--from cute to twee.
They were the best thing to have when you didn't get your own room, and the teachers always confiscated hot wheels to assimilate into their very own illegally seized collection!
I would have popped them into my mouth had I ever been caught.
Secretly I think they liked watching me play with myself.
This brings back a memory I haven't thought about for a long time. In 1984 I was rockin' a '67 Malibu,327 4bbl, powerglide. The right side taillight was broken. On my way to work one day a '69 or '70 Nova pulls up next to me with this "shorty" modification, the driver asks me if I want to buy a taillight assembly for my car. (he just happened to have one in his trunk?) He said that it was a 4 door car and he just cut the rear doors out and welded it back together. I bought the taillight for $20 and went on my way. I haven't seen another like it until now.
@InfinitisEnd: This wouldn't have been in the Atlanta are would it? There is a garage/car lot down by the airport that has what I think is a '69 or '70 Nova shorty sitting in the yard. It is in a real rough neighbor hood. Just the kind of place guys might sell parts out of the back of their car.
@P161911 now with M POWER!: YES, it was near Atlanta(Marietta), since it was in 1984 my memory fails me as to what color the car was, I want to say red, but not 100% positive.
I'm waiting for someone to shorty a Checker Marathon. I photochopped one a while back, because if someone doesn't do it before I get my current Checker done, I might have to make one myself.
Is it weird that I like the shorty proportions of the classic Beetle more than I like its original proportions?
Is it weird that, a front-wheel-drive, preferably turbo'd-4-and-manual-equipped hatchbox like the shorty Caravan would be my ideal vehicle, if only it weren't a Chrysler?
Is it weird that I can't think of a third weird thing to say about these weird vehicles?
aha! I took picture number #6. Super short wheelbase Plymouth Voyager Minivan - I talked to the owner - her husband chopped out the sliding door section a number of years ago.

@philibuster: The Voyager is a noble beast of burden. It might not be as stylish as a sports car, but it gets the job done, and does it well, at least until the transmission breaks.
The Voyager/Caravan was one of the best minivans of its time. I suppose that's the same as saying the smartest retard, but still we're not talking Yugo levels of crappyness here.

I love how the VW buses can basically have the front and rear wheels touch. Perhaps some enterprising individual can eliminate the front wheels altogether.
Also, it is hilarious that you can shorty a car to its limits and still have a wheelbase longer than a normal mini.
@Tanshanomi: I laughed out loud. For a long time. The roof rack with baskets is quite literally the icing on the cake. Too bad it's not functional as a driveable mode of transportation any longer.

this was the whole reason I loved Micro Machines.

I didn't think a true Mini Cooper could be made smaller yet still be able to carry a person.
I've been schooled.

Its not that I'm not packing heat. Its just that everybody has to know how big my penis is, by relation of the size of my car.

I've always wanted to put an S10 pickup cab and shortie flatbed on a 2-door S10 Blazer frame.
Does that make me a bad person?
