The statements all remain true, I'm just sorry that they now apply to you, Wes. I like you too much to think such things of you.
Okay, mostly just your ass.

BMW 750i: 2070kg, $105k, 400hp/450ft.lb
Jaguar XJR: 1790kg, $99k, 400hp/413ft.lb
BWW 335i: 1630kg, $49k, 300hp/300ft.lb
Not that I have driven any of them (or ever will) but that's quite a weight spread.

@Schweppes - Now with more school work: As mentir pointed out, there are a lot of other option packages that we don't get in Canada. We only get the big-daddy versions. The point, however, is that this is a really big car that's extremely light when compared to its competitors. I'd hardly say that qualifies as "bloat".

The overhead shot does look promising, though I was hoping for a close up of the fuel filler door, to really get a sense of the new design.
I've got a friend with an XJR. He might be persuaded to be jaded and need this update.

XJ-R?

I was very tempted to buy one of these at one point and just swap out the motor.

Agreed. Of course, what did Jaguar make around that time that was reliable?

@cchannel: I think the XJ-S is an acquired taste. It certainly took some time for me to appreciate it. Sorta like the Corvette C3 for me - at first it's a little grotesque, then it sorta grows on you.
The XJ6 from almost every year is a lovely car, but my preference (aesthetically at least) is for the Series II.

And these cars are a bit woeful in their reliability.

There are plenty of people offering kits for small block Chevys, and possibly Gen III and IV GM V8s. Or, you could do what this guy and some others have done:
