You bring a GTR hard drive?

    I raise a Ferrari F430 central unit:

Seagate is to Western Digital as the GT-R is to the 911.

You know, what with both of the former suffering random failures, both of the latter costing slightly more (but offering better cotomer sevis)...

(disclaimer: my admittedly small sample size includes two modern Seagates, one of which died after five months of gentle use. Seagate asked me to return it in "two-inch-thick foam rubber" [Newegg shipped it in peanuts]. Meanwhile, I've owned exactly one Western Digital over 10GB that failed - the 20GB that I replaced a few years ago with that 80. And now they're back with Firmware Hell, and I've got three WDs in my Giant Computer.)

@Floozy Plushbroom, not fingerin' Singo: My only experience with Seagate customer service was very nice; he was able to identify my problem quickly, and since I had such an odd problem it actually didn't sound like he was reading flash cards.

@KTown_WhiteBoy: Huh. Maybe they've changed in the last couple years - I was ready to give 'em another shot until word surfaced of the 750/1TB drives bricking themselves.

Maybe next time. Glad they're not all bad.

Word on the street is Porsche is calling shenanigans, saying they couldn't duplicate the claimed file transfer rate when they loaded their own drivers.
