Rather, this clip shows a bit of the recent Ferrari Racing Days at the Nürburgring in which Schumi shills for the new Ferrari California by cruising around the modern racing section of the track. That's right, there's no on-board footage of a hot lap around the old Nordschleife, but that's probably a good thing as far as Ferrari is concerned, since the decidedly soft California would probably only make an embarrassment of itself. Video after the jump.

<![CDATA[ Michael Schumacher Caught Speeding In Germany, Slapped With Three Points And A Fine ]]> Evidently unable to control his urges, Michael Schumacher has been caught speeding in his native Germany. The Polizei pulled Schumi over driving above the posted 62 MPH limit, slapping him with a fine of about $108 and three points on his license. But that only equates to ten over the speed limit — some claim he was actually caught doing 87 MPH — not a big deal to you and me, but according to highly precise German law, Schumi should have gotten his license suspended. So what does the F1 meister have to say about all this?

"I'm very sorry, this is something not in my character. Driving fast should only be done on a track"

Not in his character? What about racing a taxi to the airport? Or is it different because he was driving an Audi convertible this time? [Bild via AxisOfOversteer]

<![CDATA[ Michael Schumacher Allegedly Mows Down UK Pedestrian ]]> Michael Schumacher may have mad skills on the track, but the international racing sensation allegedly may have mowed down a pedestrian while attempting to overtake a pair of old ladies in a Fiat this weekend. Schumacher was apparently driving a Ducato van back from the Silverstone Classic in England when he knocked over Martin Kingham, who was locking up his garage. That's right, Schumi loves the van. Accidents happen, but apparently the seven-time world F1 champ doesn't like admitting he was wrong, at least according to Kingham.

'I thought I recognised the driver but my head was spinning. He was screaming: 'What the f***ing hell were you doing in the road.

'He seemed cross, as if I was in the wrong. I called the police.'

[...]

'He still didn't apologise. He was arrogant. The way I landed was lucky. My leg was aching, and the next day a big bruise came up below my knee.'

While we're glad to hear that everyone is okay, we're sort of wondering if Schumacher isn't getting a bit cocky given recent incidents...

<![CDATA[ Schumacher Falls Off Triumph Motorcycle In France, Goes Boom ]]> With Schumi taking up riding around on two wheels, we knew it had to happen to Michael Schumacher eventually, especially after one of us got himself into a bit of a motorcycle accident. But really, we'd hoped we could have been there to see it ourselves in person. That's right, Michael Schumacher, the F1 champ-of-champs, crashed his Triumph Daytona 675 on the French track of Bresse. It looks like what happened was...

...the Ferrari macher went into the first curve, realized he was heading in too quick and after nailing brakes — and shot like a cannon into the rest of the pack. Although Schumi wasn't physically hurt, we're hoping assuming his pride was given a quick punch to the gut. [via Motor.nl]

<![CDATA[ Michael Schumacher Wants You To Get Wasted Responsibly ]]> We all know that seven-time Formula One Champ Michael Schumacher loves to race taxis to the airport. But apparently when he goes out for a drink, he lets the cab driver take the wheel. Schumacher has just produced this short spot in partnership with Bacardi to encourage responsible drinking. It will be shown internationally, though we doubt that means you'll see it on your telly in the states.

<![CDATA[ Schumacher Wins First Motorcycle Race, Prompting Rumors Of New Career ]]> Former F1 driver Michael Schumacher has won his first ever motorcycle race. The ex-Ferrari driver has successfully completed tests on board Ducati's MotoGP bike and raced a Honda CBR1000RR. With the addition of this win, on board a Triumph Daytona 675, the motorcycle world is rife with rumors that he will compete professionally in a major racing class next season.

In addition to his Triumph, Schumacher brought his track prepped Ducati 1098R and Desmosedici RR to the Barcelona track for testing. It's not known which series, if any, Schumacher would choose to participate in, but it's assumed he can pretty much write his own ticket. Any lack luster performance would be made up for by his crowd-pulling name. [Via Motorcycle News]

<![CDATA[ Famous Schumacher Taxi On Sale: Bid Fast, Bid Very Fast ]]> opelvivarotaxi.jpgWe told you about Schumacher's Taxi Ride in which he commandeered a taxi in order to get his family to the airport on time. While we all think it's kind of badass that the driver recognized driving greatness and relinquished control to Schumi &mdash the authorities don't quite see it that way and are considering talking punitive actions against the Schum and the driver. But the driver has a plan to make some money: auction that puppy off.

The Opel Vivaro taxi (a different one pictured) has ten potential bidders interested with a bid as high as 63,000 euros (or about $93,000). "I need the money &mdash because of the Schumi-Ride I could be in big trouble with the police," the taxi driver said. We hope this story has a happy ending. Maybe next year's Race of Champions will feature a head-to-head Minivan race. [F1 Live via AutoBlog]

<![CDATA[ Michael Schumacher Races Taxi to Airport ]]> Wide World of Sports Australia is reporting on a taxicab drivers' tall tale that both thrills and delights. According to German cabbie Tuncer Yilmaz, Michael Schumacher was late to the airport after picking up a new puppy for the family, so he did what any self respecting racing god would do, take the wheel himself. In Yilmaz's own words:

"I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have "Schumi" behind the wheel of my cab was incredible"... "He drove at full throttle around the corners and over-took in some unbelievable places."
For the granting him the pleasure of speedily transporting his wife and two kids, and his new pup, der Regenmeister tipped ye old cabbie a smooth hundred Euros. No small sum considering that's almost enough to buy a house in Detroit these days.[WWOS.co.au] ]]>

<![CDATA[ Schumacher Sets Quickest Lap Just Because He Can ]]> mschumacher.jpgWhen you're Michael Schumacher, you can pretty much do whatever you want to whatever Ferrari that crosses your path. In this case, he was lending a hand to his old teammates and testing out their revised F1 car, sans traction control. Though technically in retirement, the seven-time world champ racked up 64 laps and set the fastest pace of the day in Barcelona. Though Schumacher's purpose is to help the Ferrari team and drivers, we wonder if his secondary purpose isn't to remind everyone that he's still their superior. [ITV-F1]

<![CDATA[ Retirees Buy The Darndest Cars: Schumacher Acquires Daytona Super Coupe ]]>

A German newspaper reports that retired Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher picked up a 38th birthday present for himself. It's a rare Daytona Super Coupe. No word on whether it's a replica or one of the originals, though we'd imagine if anyone had the bank to scoop up one of the mid-1960s Shelby-Brock masterpieces, it'd be Schuey. Maybe he'll even drive it like he embezzled it. [Thanks to Christian for the tip.]

<![CDATA[ Kid to Leave the Picture: Michael Schumacher Announces Retirement ]]> schumacher_retire.jpg

Say what you will about Formula One racing these days — the tooth-and-nail fighting for position, the swiping and sniping, the bump and run (and that's just in the front office) — but future racing historians will remember Michael Schumacher as one of the sport's premier drivers and savior of the Ferrari Grand Prix mojo. Today at Monza, after effectively capping a career's worth of achievements with his 90th win, Schumacher — as expected — announced he'll be retiring from Formula One after this season. The 37-year-old has already beaten Aryton Senna's record for pole positions (65) and has won nearly double the number of races as the next winningest F1 racer, Alain Prost. What's next? Did someone say rally?

<![CDATA[ Hot Todty: Scuderia Ferrari Team Boss to Stay in 2007 ]]>

Now that Ferrari isn't totally sucking in Formula 1 (and 2005 totally sucked, by Ferrari standards), Jean Todt thinks it might be a nice place to stay for another year. Of course, Todt is technically the head of Ferrari operations, including the street cars, so it's not like he was going to jump ship. But with the team principal signed up for another try at the world championship, it's all the more likely that Herr Schumacher will stick around as well.

Schumacher currently trails behind points leader Fernando Alonso by 21 points. But with Alonso moving to McLaren next year, a team that is currently underperforming, 2007 could be a cake walk for Schumi, as long as Kimi Raikkonen isn't driving a Ferrari alongside him.

<![CDATA[ New V8 Ferrari F1 Car Hits the Track in Fiorino ]]> ferrari_f2006.jpg

Ferrari point-man Michael Schumacher was choppered in to take the F1 team's newest car for its introductory burn around the Fiorino track, ahead of its official launch in Mugello next Tuesday. Gone is the 3.0-liter V10 that once powered the Scuderia's ride in favor of a new 2.4-liter V8 built to new F1 regulations set to reduce speeds and costs. Not much has been revealed about the new car, which will likely have little in common with the F2005 V10 car, other than that which F1 fans already know: It better be a damn sight better than last year's car or another round of beatings will further damage the superteam's rep. Talk amongst yourselves.
