It's an impressive updated salute to 'Stangs gone by.
Now mind you, I've always been a true believer in Carrol Shelby's magical massage for the mustang.
Shelby's GT 500 Super Snake.
Over 525FP torque numbers, 725 horsepower, and Snakes.
435 HP looks nice smoothly packaged in the Saleen version. I'd have to believe you could get that bumped into the 700 range without too much trouble.
Lower is better/faster, unless it's because you forgot to check the TIRE and WHEELS options when you orgered you'r GT.
I'm certain a good tuner could find you a little more boost from that twinscrew blower, and a slightly illegal change in the exhaust routing could get you in the 625 horses range, without blowing up every three months.
The Saleen does give you about as good as can really be sold to J.Q. Public without him spinning out every-time as he tries to figure out how to come off a corner.
The price is right.
While I'd personally pass on the Saleen for the Shelby GT, it's mostly my love for Chromium Cobras.
At any rate it is good to see some experimentation with the 'Stang that doesn't destroy the overall character of the machine.
A worthy offering for any with it's upscale cleanness, rattle, and hum.
@Hi, I'm Scandinavian Flick and I: I couldn't agree with you more. I really like the look of the new front end, but those tail lights seem so Mustang II. I was hoping that the new design would have taken the tail lights from the original 2005 concept vehicle.
Say, all of you up in Canuckistan, how about trying to drive this one in a little snow?
Well, with that much twist, at least the plow won't be pointed forward that often.

@mr_dude: Dammit! I accidently unheart-clicked you while trying to promote the comment, and the heart went away completely... Is there anything not wrong with commenting 2.0? This is like the Windows Vista of commenting... No... worse... It's the Windows ME of commenting...
@Hi, I'm Scandinavian Flick and I:
The only reason I know it's not the Windows ME of commenting is because I've seen it do a lot of stupid shit, but I have yet to see it blue screen.
@aSoundofSleep:
Great lulz. And now mr dude's guide to determine what j2.0 is based on:
ME - you installed j2.0 more than a month ago
XP - each bug you identify is ignored or denied, but finally fixed three years later
Vista - you haven't paid this month's Jalopnik gold subscription
MacOS - you can only run it on opera, in a cafe with wifi, wearing square rim glasses
UNIX - it's currently 2038
Facebook - Syrax pm's you to claim you used to date in high school
AIM - your roomie turned the j2.0 sounds on so you hear a stupid chime every time someone comments
/b/ - everyone comment is a senseless meme
Gizmodo - every article is really boring
@Hi, I'm Scandinavian Flick and I: Too kind. Well this way I can show that hope lies in the proles.
Script errors huh? I guess that would mean it's based on the Transformers 2 platform
Am I the only one that likes the Mustang GT just as it comes from the factory?
A new intake, a new exhaust, and new wheels if you must.
But really, why mess with a good thing? It may not be as fast as other cars, it might have a slight handling deficiency compared to other cars, and the numbers might not be as impressive as these Saleen monstrosities, but it's just not always about the numbers.
Sometimes, it's just about reliable, balanced performance, just like what comes from the factory in the case of the Mustang GT.
I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that there does not yet exist an aftermarket IRS set up for the current Stang. If there does, please alert Google, because I was unable to find one.
BTW: Do the SMS cars have as many SMS logos on them as the Saleen cars had Saleen logos? It was seriously a lot of logos.
The SN95 had kits developed for it because Ford did most of the legwork when developing an IRS for the Cobra. Since Ford decided to abandon the IRS setup from 2005 onwards, there has been no start for aftermarket companies to work with, and it may not have had enough perceived profit potential to develop a kit from scratch.
