Uh, yeah, I think that's it. As long as this means GM's taking the Trollblazer behind the barn, I can live with it.
Aha! Wikipedia sez:
The GMT360 platform and the 9-7X are not scheduled to be updated or continued after the 2009 model year. Its position in the Saab lineup was eventually to be occupied by the Subaru B9 Tribeca-based Saab 9-6X, however GM has divested its Subaru stock and 9-6X development has been cancelled. Instead, the position will be filled by the Theta-based 9-4X, a vehicle scheduled for production during the 2010 model year.
Sounds like good news to me! Small, sporty crossover! I can live with that.

Mmmm....small sporty Thera-based crossover with Saab styling and XWD...
Actually, that sounds pretty damn good.
11/18/08
And by "this", I mean "a Murano".

That would make for some damn good television right there.

I know that they trademark names & derivatives thereof, but i thought that patents were reserved for new & innovative products and processes. (Though GM should have the patent on the process of Badge engineering)

The design patent in question is real and can be found on the USPTO website [patft.uspto.gov]

Although published on November 4, 2008 is was actually filed June 29, 2007. So they have been floating around for a little while though not 3 years.

You've been knighted! Well, it was just a matter of time.

@rexplex: VW/Audi should have the patent on badge-engineering, as they're the company that actually does it right. In paying licensing fees to VW for following the process, GM should have to take classes from them on how to do it properly.

Oh, right...that would make sense and stuff. Nevermind.

LOL!

Maybe after a century of mismanagement, they'll start to turn things around.

A tubbed Prius would look awesome.
11/18/08
...is another example of how Jalopnik makes even mundane news posts about mundane products worth reading.
Also, someone already made a Bonneville Vmax Prius...I don't see why a drag Prius could be much stupider than that.
11/18/08
This is just one example of things I just don't get about the car industry, the American variety especially.
If someone wants what a Tribeca offers, can't they just buy that?
Or are these the same folks who can't vote for a black man?
11/18/08
I should read the initial posts more closely. I thought GM was going to brand this as a GM product, not a Saab product.
Though more appealing than the 9-7x/Envoy, I still don't like it.

1) Nobody needs another crossover.
B) The same reasons the 9-2x was a bad reason, nobody's gonna pay 20 grand more for a Saab that is identical to a Subaru.
III) I don't have a third point.

So no hard feelings my friend, just wanted to let you know that most of us utterly loathe new cars as much as we completely worship old ones.
11/18/08
I didn't take it as insulting at all. I was just teasing back. :)
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
11/18/08
And the editorial staff. Don't forget them.
Oh, and the British. Damn those British. Always so... well-mannered. They're up to something, I tell you.
11/18/08
So well-mannered that we won't even notice it when the moment at last arrives for them to conquer the globe with their quirky, sardonic humor and their amusing little antics involving cars and something about limes. Lots of limes.

LOL, hey man, when Clarkson manages to roll a Toyota Camry Hybrid, come talk to me :p
It still boggles my mind how that moron managed that; the whole rocket car thing was completely understandable, and it was a huge and fairly amusing stunt, except for the whole near-death-experience thing.

Saaburu! HOOOOOO!
Whoever thought that was a good idea?
