Speaking of boxes, would everyone please get out of their boxes and stop saying that Volvo is starting to get away from the boxy look? The boxy look Volvos went away in 2000 with the death of the S70. The S80 came out in '99 and that was far from boxy. I know it is not the most popular marquee for enthusiasts, but come on, the boxy look has been dead for almost a decade now.
@Triborough: I think they're trying to get away from that. Not that there is anything wrong with boxy, but it's not "The future." Good there are plenty of 20 year-old $5000 bricks for people to pick up who do.
(And yes, I like this concept and the bricks. I can have my square pie and my curvy volvo cookie too)

"Oh, and did we mention the Viking longboats sailing besides side-by-side in the headlights? It may not be the safest feature but it's the feature we want."
You tell us this and don't give us a decent shot of it... you cruel, evil, son-of-a...
I never thought it would be, but Ford's investment in Volvo has been really good for the company. The cars have been making a lot of progress from bland and stodgy to distinctive and exciting, without losing their essential Volvolocity. I'm liking what I see in this, and in the production cars like the C30 and the XC60. Might actually have to return to being a Volvo owner after all these years, though I wonder if a Golden Retriever still fits in the back of these things, and whether they'd even be allowed to participate in the Volvo Ballet...
What the fu@k. This looks very similar to the new BMW concept coupe thingy (was it V5? or whatever it was) and people are lusting over this? Then why not the BMW concept Lumpy ass?
And people bitch about hard plastic in other cars. Is this soft crystal? So if being hard is not a good thing for plastic, it's fine if it's crystal? If it's going to be something hard, I would prefer granite or marble.
BTW, I like the seat. I guess it accomodates johnson danglin' when you need to drive naked. You figure the Germans would be the one to come up with something like that.
ME: Hello, Mr. Volvo Dealer? I'm returning my car.
Volvo Dealer: But why?!
ME: I broke it.
VD: You broke it?! You just bought it!
ME: You're correct, but it seems... well, I dropped my cell phone while I was driving.
VD: Yes? And?
ME: It broke the car. Well, 'shattered,' to be more exactly. I've provided this handy padded envelope in which I'm returning the car. Please credit my account accordingly. Oh, and the envelope was an additional $4.95. Kthanksbye.
@EdaBagel: Living in earthquake-prone SoCal, all I think of with fine crystal is how easy it is to break. I lost loads of stemwear in the '94 Northridge earthquake (all of it pretty cheap, thankfully). I hope the Volvo dash fares better, should it ever make it onto the road...

Not a big fan of the styling, but as I said the other day, I'm a bit of a Luddite. It looks kinda like a squished and elongated Mondeo.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I did not get what schwaziwaivu was so I googled it and I got this.
