That was a year ago. Now it's the Paris Auto Show and, it's... um... been painted matte black. Staggering progress. Though it's a bit hard to analyze it with that matte black paint, this looks to be virtually unchanged from the old version. Allegedly it's been designed as a preview of the eventual Lexus RX replacement, and as you may have guessed from the 'h' in the name, it's a hybrid. We're not huge fans of crossovers, but we've got to admit that this looks pretty slick. Chances are we'll be let down by whatever the design has been watered down to by the time it's reached production. Maybe manufacturers should start making matte black a factory paint option.

<![CDATA[ Lexus Adds Front-Drive Version of RX 400h for 2006 ]]>

Back in the good old days, buyers of the Lexus RX 400h hybrid could only order the luxury SUV in all-wheel-drive. (Man, 2005 seems like it was just yesterday.) For 2006, however, Lexus is offering its swankiest of hybrid crossovers (ok, only one) in front-drive, for those believing traction standard-bearing is something best left to the ones leading the parade. The Toyota division is also cutting the base price of the all-wheel version. (Psych! it's making the nav system and backup camera optional equipment.) The 2006 FWD model starts at $45,355 and the AWD at $46,755.
