Why are we worrying about this, when the Governator of Kalifornication Land is named Schwarze Negger? Isn't there some statute that applies? Because, what you are named obviously implies prejudice, right? I am starting to get annoyed with ignorant people. They bother me. And there are so many of them out there.
According to my German-English dictionary, which I keep on my desk, Weissmacht translates unambiguously to Whitepower. First off, it sounds like a stupid name. Secondly, they certainly didn't consider the particular meaning the phrase might have in English. If they did, then they're idiots. But it's not the first time a name has not travelled well to other cultures.
@Chris P. Bacon: The thing that really confuses me is why they decided to call it the Audi RS6 V10 biturbo, since that's exactly what the factory one is. That's like a tuner shop calling a modded ZR1 the Corvette ZR1 V8 supercharged, or calling a Carrera GT the Porsche Carrera GT V10 naturally aspirated. At least White Power got them a viral response.
That is exactly my problem with VWs and Audis. They may be fun to drive, for a short while, then things start to break. Every time it goes in the shop expect to lay out at least a grand. Crazy thing is, I saw tons of people trade-in their old VW for a new one because the repair bill for their car in the shop was too high. Gluttons for punishment, I suppose.
Weissmacht, I think I've seen that on urban dictionary somewhere.
@aSoundofSleep Forager of Pistons: No we're not gluttons for punishment. We just get a big kick out of looking at the dash to see the "Invade Poland" light come on.
How VWs and Audis get the rep they do with the problems they have is beyond me. And I own an A6.
Well, good for them. At least they were aware of what happened, and we all got a kick out of it in the meantime. Now they should just call it Storm Trooper, like I said yesterday. That only has one meaning, right?

German: Audi RS6 V10 biturbo
How did they end up with "White Power"?

It's not like the Germans haven't done it before ...

Until everything started breaking and cost $800+ to fix, then we sold it pronto.
Still not sure where these guys came up with the name--even the German translation (Weissmacht) sounds more than vaguely sinister....
