I don't get it. The New Rich wouldn't be caught dead in an entry level Roller. This feels AWFULLY like BMW's Maybach... Especially with some of the F01/02's being kitted out like they are.

@Ellomdian: There are apparently still countries (GB and India for starters) for which the caste system holds great appeal. In these societies, a entry-level Roller makes perfect sense, because it does not infringe upon the egos of the top echelon, but does manage to thumb its nose as the bottom rungs of society.

As for the U.S., I really see no market other than idle Floridians. In fact, I doubt I'll see many, if any, in NYC.

I'm not crazy about the saddle oxford two tone there, but if this is a poor man's Roller then I guess I am an outlier off the scale.

Rolls Royce Ghost (of Fortunes Past)

Or maybe they could just call it the Rolls Royce Proust, for, you know, remembrance of the good old days, when they ran on peasants' blood and the servants knew their place and royalty, even distant royalty, basked at the top of the food chain.

The ePRS (US Patent No. c11077983) came off power-save mode to reduce the press release to this:

Remember Paris? 2006? We announced we started working on a new car. We said it would be smaller than a Phantom and priced between €200,000 and €300,000.

Remember 2008? Yeah, we released some sketches.

Remember 2009? Those sneaky people with cameras caught some spy shots, so we showed the world the 200EX concept.

After that we went on a world tour and we let the world know it would be powered by a 6.6L V12 putting out an adequate 563 hp with 780 Nm of torque, and it would ride on an air suspension. We also told people it would be called Ghost.

Now we are showing off our new car in Frankfurt. We want the world to know that we understand the economy is struggling, and many of our past clients lost money in the stock market and other Ponzi schemes. Thus, the smaller Roller will provide all the same comfort of the biguns, but will be cheaper.

Filled to the brim with amenities, we still allow you to feel coddled and self-important.

We then go on about how many welds were used and how good the engine is. We know you don't care about that, though. All you care is you aren't relegated to a 7-Series and can still look down on the little people.

In 2006, we told you we're going to come out with a new model (Holy crap! I didn't know car makers redigned stuff). The world approved.

In 2008, we showed the world a cartoon. The world approved.

In 2009, we showed you the concept. The world approved.

Later in 2009, we gave you the prodcution version. The world approved.

I hope they realize that it took 4 years from design to delivery of the first nuclear powered submarine. I sure hope they beat that.
