We still haven't raised the standards for driver testing, but we're ready to drop the hammer on people using advanced technology to track their every move (including ECU logs in court cases).
Can you imagine raising a kid to be carefree and mediocre, then kicking his ass every time he did something you didn't like?

Why? Because this will be a lot easier to cheat than the current taxation which is built into gas prices. All you have to do is hack your on-board computer and roll back the virtual odometer. WIN!

Actually raising gas taxes would be effective in many ways--raising revenue, pushing automotive makers toward more efficient and alternative fuel vehicles, lowereing overall consumption/dependence on foreign oil, and cutting back on pollution from unnecessary driving.
