    The kid is Colombian, I believe. The name Gabriel has more of an short 'a'-- gab riel instead of gabe riel-- in Spanish speaking cultures (at least, that's what I've seen). That makes Gabby a reasonable, and seemingly not-unheard of, acceptable nickname for a man.

    So, no-- he doesn't have a girl's name.

    I would not want to be choosing between Gabby and Casper Semenya at 2:00 A.M on a boozy Friday. Either way, it would be a really rocky Saturday morning.
