To me, it looks like a Civic laid an egg, which means the designer laid a goose egg.

Many are the times I've said to myself, "Self, the Smartcar would look so much better with a Lancer grille and Avalanche style body cladding." I guess I was wrong.

It looks like my computer mouse. That's electric too plus it has a LASER in it.

The rakish front reminds me of the Euro Civic Type-R. I really do need to get my eyes checked today.

If it is all electric, then why does it need a grill the size of a whale shark? Does the bottom half switch out like Swatch Watch accessories? If so, can I switch it out for a higher performance version, when I really only need to go 40 miles really quickly?

In reply to 2011 Reva NXG: Like A Smart Car, But Electric
Can someone enlighten me on the following question: What is the design term for the badonkadonk ass this and all the following cars possess?

    - Lincoln MkC
    - Nissan Cube
    - Smart four2
    - Toyota Yaris
    - Others I am surely forgetting...

They're not bustle-backs, hatch-backs, or notch-backs. Lacking an official term, the best I can come up with is abomina-back. It's a cop-out design tactic that further compromises the potential usefulness and functionality of an already small and limited vehicular footprint.

For crissakes, instead of designing a fake bumper and wannabe coupe roofline, leaving all that ugly wasted space behind the B/C pillar, here's a novel idea: extend the roof all the way back, make the rear more-or-less flush all the way down, and create an honest-to-goodness, useful, hatch-back like car!

I'm so sick of it. Instead of a modern CRX or electric Golf, designers keep foisting these fatass poseur Miata-wannabes upon us. Who ever thought that was a good idea?

Jalopnik, please forward this immediately to Dilip Chabria of DC Design before it's too late.

    Dear Mr. Chabria,

I hate plastic cladding that looks like, well plastic… but more than that, I hate the designers that make plastic cladding look plastic.

    Regretfully,

    Flathead Smith

From an aesthetic standpoint, this is pretty cool. I like the proportions and the Element-like two-tone bodywork really breaks up the height of the vehicle. I don't get the big fake grille, however. And REVive? Unless it calls upon the power of the wizard Shazam to zap your car with lightning, thereby instantaneously charging your batteries, it's a gimmick.

I guess the Audi grill is so popular now that they even need to put them on electric cars for the esthetics. I wonder where else they’ll put them? Here’s a list of other things that need Audi grills: Unicycles, Cellphones, Tea Glasses, Razors, Fountain Pens, horse saddles, and litter boxes for cats.

The lime green/black mini car is soo 2007 auto show circuit. I'm getting sick of electric car announcements- I want to see real world tests. These things will hopefully live up to all of the PR we've been subjected to. Both my parents live within 25 miles of their workplace. To imagine that in 5 years time they could commute solely on electricity is a crazy thought.

...Of course my family is a GM family so the only 'lectric automobile my Father would consider is a Volt.

@Benito ~ I still drive excitement.: I actually wouldn't mind tooling around in that as a run about. If the final design looks exactly like that. I will have my SC V8 as my car.

@Formerlythegreatestdriver: Oh, the Beat, and it's brother, the Trax, were some of the coolest 'Mini-Car' concepts I had ever seen. Much more attractive then the appliance- looking insect of a car up there.

You could do what Ian Wright did: get an Ariel Atom chassis and install an electric drive train in it.

    See his site here: [www.wrightspeed.com]
