I just now realized the shot with the Falcon convertible and the Impala, third pic from the bottom, is likely the very same site in which the original John Connor nearly pranged a still barge-like '75-'77 Eldorado into a wall.
In one scene, an interior shot, you're supposed to be with Otto inside the Cutlass, but careful observation spots incongruities. He gets into the Cutlass, but the interiors are from something else. I don't know what, exactly.
@Novaload Is Just Plain Novaload Again: Meh. I liked where he got his head popped off in a movie about a bus that had to keep speeding and speeding because it had a bomb that would go off if it went below a certain speed.
Whenever (and this has become more and more seldom) I see a '64 Futura, I yell, "F@*#ing Rodriguez Brothers!" and swerve violently into an open lane, much to the chagrin and bewilderment of my passengers. They have no idea what I'm talking about, but they can tell it's intense, and don't ask questions.
@mechimike: I used to be a Repo Man. Furniture, not cars. A smart bank has the key code for the car, you get a new key made and you can hop in, fire it up and roll away. If you're lucky.
Repoing furniture, man...you gotta get 'em to let you in. And facing down a guy with a shotgun over his - er, that's my dryer - crazy. Don't miss those days at all.
It's weird when you get home from work and the wife says, "Any new holes?"
I like how the last comment is about what little product placement there was in the film, and then at the bottom of the interview is a big Gawker ad for pop-culture skateboards.
Repo Man blew my mind the first time I saw it on Speedvision's The Lost Drive-In (hosted by the awesome Bruce Dern).
Thanks for the great work MM.

@The Dead Inside Grp. Co. Ltd.: I second your rant. I watched Speed Report tonite and they gave Travis Pastrana a single sentence congrats for his newly earned rally chamionship. It was the last sentence said in the program as the music and credits were playing.

I should also mention that I may have the door emblems from Harry Dean Stanton's '71 Impala in my collection. Cox says he drove the Impala for a couple years after the film, until it died. I was living in Southern California at the time and was a regular at most of the major self-service junkyards, so I'd have pried the emblems off the Repo Man Impala if I saw it on the yard. If only I'd known! But blue POS Impala sedans were as common in junkyards then as are early-90s Tauruses today.
I'm proud of ya, Mur'lee! Thanks for reporting to us.
I have a roadside-found New Car Scent Little Tree hanging from the handlebars of my Gary Fisher. I thought it humourous given its lack of smell even when I got it, and the fact that it's travelled hundreds of miles by my hand in the open air.

@joneez wants the clunkers he paid for: I don't have to take a hand off the handlebars to shout at motorists, and if I wanted to do so, I know plenty of great hand signals!
@anaxomander: I shop at Ralph's to this day but I am still a little disappointed that they long ago changed the labels on the generic food. Right now I colld use a "beer".
@anaxomander: When I was a kid I remember several friends of my Dad drinking a substance out of a drab tan can that was simply labeled "BEER." I also remember eating "COOKIES" from similar packaging. Is this the same stuff?
@joneez wants the clunkers he paid for: There were many varieties of generic products during the late-70s/early-80s period. The blue-on-white ones were most common, but by the time Repo Man came out the generics were already something of a joke. They still exist, but they're store brands.
@Murilee Martin: I think the store was either Scolari's or Lucky's. There's been 5 different stores in that building.
Thanks for the interview and bringing back some near forgotten memories. It's funny the things you remember from childhood. I can still recall the taste of "COOKIES" 35 years later.
@coupeZ600: In the original screenplay, Otto burns his parents' house down after he finds they've given all their money to the Reverend's Bibles For El Salvador scam. That scene wasn't used in in the film.

Thirded.
Though it's better than a few years back when they were showing old NASCRAP races as filler.
Sigh. Hard to believe I know about WRC/BTCC because of SpeedTV. How times change.
