I couldn't watch the Sebring race, so I recorded it on the Tivo. I almost called into work today so I could stay home and watch it. Now I'm thinking I might come down with something at lunch.
That was so cool. McNish's pass was insanly ballsy. Audi is going to have a huge fight with the Pug at Le Mans. Epic. Best thing since the Porsche/Ferrari battles of the 70's.
Saw bits and pieces. I agree that this is perhaps the most interesting tech race, so Pug vs. Audi will definitely be interesting to watch. Almost makes me want to buy an old 505 and start modding it. Then, the scotch wears off, and I realize that what I am thinking about doing is total insanity, and could be grounds for involuntary commitment at the county mental health facility.
@DoctorNine: I suppose Murilee could and should start a rehab for people who impusively go out and buy cars they know would end up on the pages of PCH soon and decides to spend their children's inheritance and education on a LS9 to stuff into whatever they just found.
@Mobius_1: The wife has this 'look' she gives me when I come up with an idea which should not be pursued. She can freeze hot coffee to ice with that look. I rely on her to keep me from dangerous exercise of my enthusiasm for such things.
So, Audi maintains its indomitability. Of course, Peugot finished on the same lap - so it was pretty much a twelve hour sprint for both teams. And the Acura slipped in there ahead of the second Peugot, so they have plenty of competitiveness.
The biggest surprise to me may be that the Corvette finished only seven laps back from the prototypes.

joneez is tired of all the Pinto hate: Turbochargers really damp down race exhausts. I got to see some of the first turbocharged Porshes race. They were indomitable, but were the quietest cars on the track.
But it works like this: The engine is in the back. If you're going fast enough, all the noise is happening waaay behind you.
@joneez is tired of all the Pinto hate: Someone had a W123 diesel Benz in one a while back - I remember that it won the people's curse award. They dumped clam chowder in the engine, let it back on the track and the bastard finished the race.
@TurboBrick: The diesels that I know of are as follows: First LeMons at Altamont, a diesel VW Rabbit with the team dressed in white lab coats, the car sporting R10 colors and theme, but not the speed, silence or reliability. October LeMons at ALtamont 2007, twin diesel Mercedes that were big, loud, and quick. The Canolla Rolla's threw me into a tire wall.
Comcast can further suck it, as they do not give SpeedHD in my area... hard to watch when it isn't clear. At least I can look forward to watching Audi win again, the C6R in 5.1, and a full-size picture in the next few races on ABC.

Some great racing yesterday: Peugeot v. Audi, Flying Liz v. the "I hate drivers" Milner's "You break it, I break you" Panoz...
...And that LMP1 Acura is going to be tough on tight tracks. Looking forward to Lime Rock!

Not much of a theme, either. Maybe Audi should leave the racing to Foxstangs and chain-driven Geos..

Besides, we all know diesels are slow which is why no body has run one at LeMons. Or have they?
