2009 Challenger Brochure Hits Web, Gives Us A 70s Flashback

The brochure for the new 2009 Dodge Challenger has hit the automotive webosphere and Mopar-mad fan-boys are drooling over an item we think will be an instant classic. The car? At this point, unknown. But the brochure will totally hit the "Found on EBay" pages shortly. That's because Dodge has created a gorgeous piece of showroom lit — with the fonts, photography, and graphic touches that channel the 70's Challenger. But as always, it's what's inside that counts. And inside the brochure is shot after shot of the new pony car from Dodge in all sorts of variations — each more amazingly retrosexual than the last. There's the R/T Classic Package Challenger, complete with old-school Challenger badging and a set of strobe-style side stripes. But it's the the new "Track Pak" for the quarter-mile fans that gets us going this morning — featuring a made-for-the-drag-strip package complete with 3.91 rear gear, a set of 20s, and the all-important 6-speed manual gearbox. Why you shouldn't buy this car:

Pam Anderson Sacrifices Viper For Animal Ethics

Pam Anderson continues in her current career as "vapid celeb throwing money at organizations forged from whining and communism," electing to sell her 2000 Dodge Viper RT/10 to benefit People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (NAMBLA). The white-striped Viper is probably better off out of Ms. Anderson's hands anyway, as she's a self proclaimed terrible driver, but to use that money for an animal-saving campaign just seems weird. This one Viper alone is probably responsible for the deaths of dozens of polar bears, so cognitive dissonance shall remain solidly in place. [AP]

2009 Dodge Journey SXT, Part Two

The 2009 Dodge Journey is without a doubt one of the better looking cars in the Dodge lineup. But, that's not saying much. The sharp profile and muscular fender flares manage to hide the crossover's stubby dimensions while the cheaters on the B- and C-pillars also keep the shorter greenhouse from looking cartoonish (ahem, Nitro). You can't even tell there's an Avenger under there.

Interior Design: **
Ignore the nooks and crannies and the Journey's interior looks as though it was designed in 1998 by someone imaging how cars would look in 2008, sans the holographs. The center console is uncomfortably raked towards the never-ending dash. The gauge cluster consists of three rectangular pods with angled glass that looks cheap and tacked-on. The plastics? Matchbox cars get better stuff. The seats? Just good enough.

2009 Dodge Journey, Part One

With marriage looming, fatherhood has become an ever-increasing possibility, albeit one that is still far enough away that I can justify spending money on myself. When that day does come though, I'd like to think that I'd be the cool dad with the awesome wagon. However, increasingly competent crossovers are starting to look more and more appealing. In that vein, a 2009 Dodge Journey was ordered up for a little bit of testing. I'll skip to the end for those in a hurry: It wouldn't suit me as a car for when I have a family, but it would be nearly ideal if I suddenly became a drug dealer instead.

Yet again, we've got another shot of what's purported to be a 2009 Dodge Ram R/T (or perhaps it's a 2010 Dodge Ram SRT8 or maybe even a 2011 Dodge Ram Rumble Bee...whatever) caught over at Micro Center at 14 Mile and John R in Troy. Again, we've no idea what it is, but it's obviously some kind of test vehicle — whether mule or otherwise. 2009 Dodge Ram R/T Accidentally Revealed By Dodge

Yesterday we shook some trees to see if anything would fall out resembling a Dodge Ram R/T or SRT-10 by tossing out wild speculation on some nondescript spy photos. We don't know if that got some gears turning, but today a brief flash of what looks to be the 2009 Ram R/T showed up in a promo video for the Rambox. So of course we took a screen capture, waved a magic anti-distortion wand over it and ta-da! A sportier, spicier Dodge Ram. Now if only we could do that wand trick with the Chrysler Sebring.

2010 Ram SRT-10 Caught At The Track?

What is this now? A blacked out new 2009 Dodge Ram with a manufacturers plate lurking around a Waterford Race Track in Michigan? Why it certainly is. Why would a truck already unveiled be all blacked out and at a race track? Perhaps it's the hi-po model. Oh how delightfully gossiptastic. We have very literally zero proof this is anything other than a run of the mill Ram, but we're going to throw it out that this may be the Ram SRT-10, maybe just the R/T, but it's being subjected to some laps around the track. True or not we're willing to start some rumors.

Detroit Auto Show: Dodge Caravan R/T Concept Gets You to Target Faster

Dodge brought their the Caravan R/T to the floor of the Detroit Auto show. This sporty soccer sled debuted at SEMA last year, but you'll have to forgive us from passing on it the first time. The powertrain details are vague (though there's definitely a sport-tuned dual exhaust and revised power control module), but the vehicle clearly got the sport treatment with new front/rear fascias, rocker panels, lowered suspension and what's clearly an entirely functional spoiler. On the inside, you'll find perforated suede seating inserts with R/T-red accented stitching. A quicker answer to the neverending query: "Are we there yet?"

Spy Photos: 2007 Dodge Avenger R/T

Rumors abound on the internets of an imminent announcement at some showcase of autos of a change in status from "concept" to "production" of the Dodge Avenger shown at the Paris Auto Show. Just as with any vehicle in the Dodge stable, there's expectation of an R/T version, and as I saw today on my way over to the DaimlerChrysler Tech Center in Auburn Hills, Mi for an event I can't talk about as well as can't explain why — I noticed this little black n' chrome assembled Avenger R/T making it's way onto the hallowed grounds of the HQ for the 'merican side of the German-American hybrid. If the R/T shares the same "high-end" engine found in it's badge-engineered cousin, you'll more than likely find a 3.5-liter V6 sitting inside the engine compartment when you lift the hood.
