I know I'm two days too late for anybody to read this, but I want to go on record as saying I love the Pulsar NX. Yes, it was a not-even-average performer for the time. Yes, it was weird looking and functionally mediocre. I don't care. It's so close to the universal epicenter of Garafalocity that it makes me shutter.
And yes, I'm really talking about the '83-'86 N12 version, not the Lego-back model. #1984
I thought the interchangeable rear version was cool. But they only sold about 5, and none of the extra body pieces. A friend had one and liked it for a while. But I'd probably have just gone with the equivalent Sentra - not a terrible platform for the time. #1984
It's been ages since I saw the Pulsar of this era, as well as the 1987-90 models, talk about a blast from the past! I spotted additionnal infos at the garage blog [thegarageblog.com]
Ironically in Australia, the Pulsar moniker was applied to 4-door hatchbacks and sedans like this 1986 Aussie Pulsar ad. #1984
I remember one of the car mags describing this as looking like something fell on it, which pretty well sums it up. So the crusher can't really make it much worse. #1984
My aunt had one of these when I was a wee kid. I thought it was kind of cool, but it definitely had a back seat. I remember that it folded down. I also remember that the upholstery on the seats was just like that in the pics. #1984
I used to sneer at these when I drove around in my CRX. If I recall correctly, the magazines were none too kind to the first-generation NX. Not really worth preserving. #1984
Is it just me, or is this car sitting between an old Celica and a second-generation RX-7 convertible? If you ask me, all three of these cars deserve an honorable death (or, if you prefer, an honorable rebirth) at LeMons. #1984
Impressive. That's almost as bad as the LN7. However, I assume it weighed less, handled better and the door knob didn't fall off in your hand as quickly. #1984
@MushyHeirloom: Man, that takes me back... when the NX came out with replaceable back panels, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread-- maybe better. It never occurred to me that an NX with all the different detachable backs would take up as much garage space as three cooler cars. Still, I love the idea. #1984
Finally! A crusher snack that bothers me not at all. I like 2-seaters but if you look up "Sh*t Box - 2 Seater" in the Dictionary, this is the illustration.
At least its wee eyes are closed, it can't see what's happening to it.

And in Nippon, at least you could get it with a turbo. #1984

I'd make a rockin' shift knob if I had a manual.
