Mini Crossover Spotted In Brown Acid Camouflage
Hot on the heels of the Mini Crossover Concept revealed at the Paris Motor Show, we get our first glimpse of a prototype Mini crossing over in the wild. The all-wheel-drive micro-UV is obviously wearing the same epilepsy-inducing camouflage BMW has been fond of lately, but you can see the mule bears a great deal of resemblance to the concept. This "Mini" seems to be pretty large compared against the BMW 1-Series parked in front of it. [NextAutos] -

What Will Mini Name Their New Crossover?
Since we first heard of the possibility of a Mini SUV, dubbed by many the Mini Crossman that we saw debut in Paris, there has been speculation over the name. We thought this was all settled when they didn't officially name it the Crossman, but apparently enthusiast wishes now appear to hold no sway with automakers. You'd have thought we'd have learned after the whole G8 El Camino debacle, right? Anyway, According to GoAuto, BMW's global sales and marketing chief said "I can assure you it won't be known by that name." This brings us back to square one. So what will they call it? We'll walk you through the possibilities below. More » -

Mini Off-Road Crossover Concept Includes Laser-Projected 3D In-Car Entertainment Globe
The off-road Mini Crossover Concept may be small on the outside, but on the inside there's a giant 3D globe that utilizes laser technology to integrate all of the car's entertainment, communication and navigational features into a touchscreen interface. The globe splits into hemispheres allowing the driver to check out a map while a passengers surfs the web. Intense laser projection displays information, in both text and graphic form, at multiple layers within the globe. The driver can either interface with the system by touching the globe or by using the trackball on the steering wheel — which also acts as the "key." Passengers can use the pop-out keyboard or slide controls below the globe. While this is still very much a concept, all the technology for it exists and we wouldn't be surprised to see Mini incorporate many of these features on a feature vehicle. Mini Reveals Crossover Concept, Takes Brand Off-Road For First Time
BMW has released a series of sketches of their new Mini Crossover Concept, a tease of the 2011 Mini Crossman we're expecting from the brand. How much resemblance this bears to the Magna Steyr-built production model rumored to debut in 2010 is uncertain, but these sketches clearly point to a four-door, four-seat vehicle with all-wheel drive and a more athletic feel. Press release and more sketches below the jump. More » -
