    I dunno, if you leave the keys in the ignition of a car that's actually worth something while you shop, your stupidity means you deserve to have it stolen.


    I saw an unlocked new 5-series in my parking lot here at work the other day and I was VERY tempted to remove some personal items from the idiot's car to teach them a lesson.

    @lowercase: Interestingly enough, they both came out at the same time (MY2004). Hard to say who ripped off whom!


    A couple years ago, Top Gear compared the 128 hatch against the VW R32 (MkV) and the R32 actually won. Now if only the Bimmer had been sporting the 3-litre sequential turbo from the 135, it would have been a different story.

    @Ash78: Even if it came here, I doubt it would do better than the Audi A3. Audi is gaining more and more popular each day in the US, while BMW is not. Then again, I'm all about the A3 cause I might be buying one. (I know a GTi is faster. The first thing I'll do is replace the suspension. Unlike the VW, it won't be embarrassing to pick up co-workers in.)

    @diskreet: A3 is definitely a great car, glad to see they finally offer the 2.0t with Quattro and 6MT.


    Interesting comment on the image thing, though. If I showed up in a new Audi at work, the bosses would probably think they were paying me too much :D


    But the A3 definitely has "maturity" head and shoulders over the GTI.
