It's Evo Mag's COTY, if that means something. It's also very pretty and it's a Lotus first of all. But the only gripe I have is that the rumored Esprit replacement will have to be frighteningly expensive if the Evora's already $70,000+.

Not that I could afford either... #lotusevora

I'd be all over this. Puts that 40 year old Porch design in the shade. Besides, there will never be a tenth of these as 911's, so you've got the distinctiveness and exclusivity thing sewn up.

I look at this as Lotus' Cayenne. It's a relative porker with stunning performance, that will permit the company to continue producing the cars that are closer to its' spiritual home. Maybe they'll plow the profits back into an updated 7? #lotusevora

The new Acura NSX is here - made by Lotus and powered by Toyota.

I hope to God it sells like hotcakes, as my heart is overflowing with resentment directed at Honda in its current form.

Nice price if you can get more ponies reliably out of that Camry mill they put in the thing. Plus, it will be way cheaper to maintain because of that engine:

Evora Owner: I need a Lotus Evora timing belt.

Parts Store Guy: (checks computer) No, we don't have that in stock, you might want to try the dealership.

Evora Owner: Well, can you find me the timing belt to the an 07' V6 Camry?

Parts Store Guy: (checks computer) We've got 10 of those. I can't help you on the Lotus though.

Evora Owner: You just did. One Camry belt please. #lotusevora

Update: the 2GR-FE IS filled with tuning potential.

"The new 3.5-litre engine has a very strong bottom-end, with its six-bolt main steel crankshaft which we run unmodified," Mr Kittle said.

"The engine is pretty much bullet-proof, and our goal has been to make the power smooth and useable."

    All systems go, baby. #lotusevora

I'd consider it, but it'd have to really impress me. But I think I'd probably rather have an NSX, even if I don't get the back seats. #lotusevora

So what if the back seats are unsuitable for people with legs, the driver's seat looks like a nice place to spend some time.

If my car buying budget were to magically increase tenfold, I'd buy it. #lotusevora

@BoomhauerTX: Since I don't have the money, it's all academic, but I will concede the point. I can pretend that I'd buy it, but if I actually did have the funds, and only a Lotus would do, I'd buy a 1994.5 Esprit, and have $50k left over.

But I wouldn't think less of a man who would choose the Evora over the multitude of other ways in which to spend $73,500. It's a nice looking car, and should be a lot of fun. There might be better ways to spend your (or my) money, but there are also a lot of worse ways to spend it. #lotusevora

One might say it's a grand cheaper than a base 911, but I think it's more accurate to say it's $12k more than a base Cayman.

It's a pretty car, and certainly gets some good reviews across the pond, but if I were making a decision based on performance, handling, and comfort instead of just buying something to be different, I'd probably still stick with the Porsche 911.

I'd rather have a 911, for that kind of money (what's a few thousand?).

On the other hand, I'm opposed to the Evora in principle. I recommend fitting the lot of them with electric motors, powered by electricity generated via Colin Chapman spinning in his grave. #lotusevora

@Paul Y. don't drive too fast.: Eh, I think you're giving Chapman a little too much credit. Colin might have extolled the virtues of lightness and simplicity, but when it came to his business, he was no purist. He showed no hesitation whatsoever in trying to move Lotus upmarket in the '70s with pricey, luxury-oriented four-seaters like the Elite and Eclat. I doubt he would have much trouble with the Evora - profit, after all, is profit and the car is reasonably light by 2009 standards. #lotusevora

I believe Suzuki's own SX4 is already the least expensive car with nav, so they won't be able to make that claim for the Kizashi. #suzukikizashi

This thing has GOT to look better in the flesh. It looks like bad Eurotrash to me in the photos. Like they stole the front end from a Golf, flushed in some PT cruiser, and stole my 7th grade sketchbook for the back end. #suzukikizashi

@Jeb_Hoge: Aggressive? Really? I mean...I guess when you put it next to a Camry. But IMO, aggressive is the word I'd use for an SRT Neon. Or a last-gen Celica. This just looks like a big-nosed also-ran from a company that isn't quite as stylistically talented or niche-smart as the Japanese up-and-comers were in the 80s and 90s (ie: Subaru). When was the last time you saw a commercial for an SX4? I mean those are kinda quirky, half-decent cars with some personality (could have more), but nobody knows anything about them. #suzukikizashi
