    As I mentioned in many previous posts great idea however I spotted it as a fake from the begining, so I have already gone through the phase of being sad that this car will never get produced. Please can some crafty basement builder make this a dream come true (bonus points for using the new 3.8 DI Turbo motor and making the Cayman as fast as it should be)

    BTW... has the Top Gear America show idea been officially squashed? (assuming it was ever officially in the works...)

    @GV_Goat: In the article, the BBC sokesman said they're still working to get a U.S. version of the show off the ground, but I personally don't see it happening anytime soon, if ever. (Hope I'm wrong, though.)

    I much prefer the standard Cayman anyway, but I know how much "we" like shooting brakes here on Jalopnik, so it's a still sad revelation.

    I will concede that the Cayman makes for a particularly handsome shooting brake. I just think that given the choice, most buyers would opt for the coupe-ier Cayman. If this were a standalone version of the Boxter hardtop (like the M coupe to the Z3), I would probably love it, but with the sleeker Cayman to campare to it, I'd take the reg'lar one.

    So as someone that lives in Canada I can watch videos at topgear.com/uk but not at BBCAmerica.com? Does that even make any sense?

    @slater: While I like the idea of a shooting brake, I just didn't like the stying of this, even if it was just a prank. The rear on this thing makes the Panamera look sexy.

    I haven't been as excited about a new car in years. The last time I felt these emotions was when I heard BMW was coming out with a turbo I6. To hear this is fake is like finding out a hot chick at a bar is a tranny.

    If I were at Porsche, I would now be advocating the development of a shooting brake, and as a marketing effort, I would propose a factory racing series with stops in The US, UK and Germany. Cars would be spec Cayman shooting brakes, and the drivers would be required to carry a hunting dog in a crate over a partially paved, partially gravel road course with time penalites if the dog gets sick.
