    I sent the tip for this, but oh well. Credit is over-rated. Here's looking at you, Matt.

    It belonged to a teacher at my Highschool; she lived ocean-front, but the car got dragged by water about a quarter mile before being buried. Her H2 got covered as well.

    @gman1023: My superintendent made enough money over his nine years at my former school district that he probably could have bought a Maybach, but he didn't. Either because it is a small school district with poverty affecting many people and a Maybach would piss off many people, or the Dakota was more useful to him. #porschecayman

    @87CapriceEstate: Well, yeah, theoretically true for anyone. I mean, if we say a Maybach costs $360,000 (presuming we're talking a new one) and divide that by nine years that's $40,000 per year. Many if not most career over-the-road truckers do better than that. By the same token, my parents could theoretically buy a new Bentley every year. You know, if eating isn't important. #porschecayman

    @gman1023: Not much. But apparently, they do pay accountants more.(Her husband)

    She's a special-ed teacher, though, so she might get a bit more. The teachers here get paid a little more than average, but the cost of living is so high, it cancels out. Most of out teachers live pretty simply, she's just the exception. There is a teacher who had an S2000 but she sold it for a Solstice.

    @gman1023: That happens a fair amount around where my dad lives(Spartanburg, SC). Most people in the middle class neighborhoods have older Explorers or equivalent. You go to the trailer parks, and you suddenly see a long trail of new 'Vettes, Camaros, SRT-10s, Chargers, and the occasional new BMW. It's all about priorities.

    @AustinMiniMan: Ahh, so then it works out. My fourth grade teacher's husband is a fairly successful real estate agent in the area so she always was in an Audi or a new SUV or more recently, a Mercedes CLS. She probably makes ~$25,000 a year (parochial Catholic school).

    @AustinMiniMan: Exactly, it's all priorities. Also, if they don't plan to have kids they can spend more. Plus, there are families, inheritances, debt, etc to be considered. It's all a matter of priorities in the end.

    1) Driving a Porsche on a beach

    @tempesjo: I don't think he was driving on a beach. The outer banks are just as it sounds, a huge bank of sand and considering the 20' swells on the east coast this weekend, it wouldn't take much to cover the entire island. #porschecayman

    @tempesjo: A friend drove down there this past weekend - the roads were covered with six feet of sand. It was quite a storm, even inland.

    Wind an water can move a lot of sand. Smart drivers would move their cars, too. #porschecayman
