There was (is?) a company that would put an extra Northstar V8 in the trunk of a 90s Cadillac Eldorado, driving the rear wheels.
They also mentioned issues with syncing the engines, but I believe in the end they decided not to worry about it-- as long as one engine isn't way overpowering the other, it works itself out. If one end loses traction and starts to rev too high, the other end will likely upll/push it to better traction. #hybridpontiacfiero

A Hybrid uses a combination of ICE and electric motor to drive the same wheels. e-4WD uses an ICE to drive one set of wheels and an electric motor to drive the other set, thus negating the need to run a driveshaft the length of the car.

As long as you have a reasonable map between the go pedal and the motor controller, the motor will just provide a "booster" torque to complement the gas motor.

That being said, a fail plus a win (Hybrid+SBC Fiero) would equal epic win.

Rather than hack the sh*t out of the chassis to run a driveline to back and have to deal with a transfer case and all that crap they just stuck an electric motor in the back to drive the rear wheels. Simply flip it around and you've got this system.

We can lay it out like this:
f + f = w
and
f + w = w
therefore
f + (f + f) = w
