But it got people talking about Pontiac for the first time in over a decade (if the W-body even counted then), perhaps a quarter-century. Its styling was, at least, unique, and it offered incredible utility if utility was all you cared about.
Notably, the same vehicle was offered a few years after the Aztek was axed as the Chevrolet Uplander (and its platform siblings) - it had all of the shortfalls, including obscenely poor styling, and flopped even less gracefully. And nobody remembers it.
GM isn't failing because of its good cars.

Even if GM were to consider that plan (which I doubt they will because of Maximum Bob's lame duck status), they'd probably be too afraid of drawing the ire of the Department of Hope and Change.
