    I think I've got a form of survivor guilt...

    I can go down to my local dealer the car one, not the one who thinks his clients are his friends, choose between a wagon, ute or sedan. V8 or V6, in a wide variety of colour and a choice of either manual or auto.

    I feel real guilty. Then I think "Where's Australia's Challenger? Where's Australia's Camaro the one the Aussie designed and engineered , Where's our Roush Mustang?

    Suddenly I don't feel so bad for my American brothers and sisters.

    Still feel a little guilty when I drive past Artarmon Holden & HSV and see what would have been a Pontiac grill now on a Holden. #pontiacg8gxp

    @Tanshanomi: I shouldn't admit this either, but I've been walking down the street many, many times, when I see a Pontiac all venty and snarly-looking approach and I think 'oh my gods, finally, I'm seeing a G8!"

    And it turns out to be a G6. Or even the Grand Prix GTP.

    When (if) I see a real one, I hope I'll notice the difference right away, cuz seeing that head-on picture of the GTP above makes me want to have sex with all kinds of stuff. #pontiacg8gxp

    @Muscles Marinara: Let's see here: It is faster, handles better and brakes better than ANY factory stock A body GTO, so yes. The G8 GXP is the greatest Pontiac of them all. The GTO has nostalgia on it's side, but the G8 GXP buries it in the numbers. #pontiacg8gxp

    @Jim-Bob: That's why, as I tried to convey in my post, "best" and "greatest" are two completely different things. I'm not saying it isn't an awesome car, but technically, it's not even the greatest Holden Commodore ever built.

    I'd seriously consider buying a new one of these, if I had the income I did five years ago...

    Now...not so much. Plus, there isn't a bogus-ass scoop-delete option.

    The Bondo required to fix the excessive holes will significantly affect performance in a negative manner. #pontiacg8gxp

    @that ain't the way to have fun, son: Those scoops are hideous. I'd go as far as saying they completely ruin the car if it wasn't already ruined by the exact same front clip used by every Pontiac of the last 10 years and incredibly dull ass-end. Nevermind the fact that the interior has no business in a $37,000 car. #pontiacg8gxp

    Yeah! Damned right!

    For me, this nose goes back to the early generations of Grand Am, which had an expiration date of 1991, and by then, it smelled funny enough to have not needed a date telling you it'd gone bad.

    I've seen all of one of these on the road, and what was appealing, though not to many people, is the borderline generic look. This is why I liked the last GTO, pre-scoop skankafication. That, and it's as close to a haul-ass Holden as I'm likely to get.

    Oh, and your screen name, alone, deserves a clicky. Nice to see I'm not the only one.... #pontiacg8gxp

    @Wes Siler: Agreed. I bought my G8GT right after my wife totalled the e39 540 (thanks Honey!), and like the Pontiac better.
    Of course, would have been even better(she's OK, of course) had I NOT just spent a few hours and a few $$$ installing new brakes and general service on the BMW.... #pontiacg8gxp

    These are cool cars but for the price you're going to pay for one (40+) you could be behind the wheel of some amazing cars (C6 Corvette, e60 M5, '89 Caprice).

    @Wes Siler: Blah applies if you're looking for balls-out fun-to-drive. But I don't know if the GXP is really that much more fun to drive. Probably easier to push to the limit because you're less worried about the repair bill. They're both very heavy cars. #pontiacg8gxp
