@pauljones: A message from Jalopnik commenters: Please take the console fanboi-isms over to Kotaku where you can spark yet another heated console debate. :-)
On a side note: Is this just a pure marketing mini-game for Audi? If so why not make it for all systems?
@dculberson: I have them both, too, and I agree with your assessment. The graphics on the PS3 are much nicer, but what few games that are still exclusive to PS3 aren't as interesting as those of Xbox 360, Gran Turismo notwithstanding.
@pauljones: Yeah, and I still can't believe how much slicker the PS3 controllers are, with their built-in batteries. The xbox also has that huge power brick..
@dculberson: The only thing I don't like about the PS3 are the control layouts. The control placements are fine, but the movement controls are opposite of the Xbox 360, and that drives me up the wall. I usually play Xbox 360 on account of Halo, so when I switch over, there is always that latent learning curve with the controls that I have to contend with if the game won't let me switch them.
@Cognitive Friction: I disagree. I have as much fun in the slow cars as I do in the more powerful cars. You really have to pay attention to your driving lines when you don't have the power to power through on the straightaways.
My brother does not like to race with the slower cars. Then again, his idea of playing GT is to get a 4WD, put a huge turbo on it, and use the walls to steer the car.
@TurboRefrigerator: My idea of playing GT is to get a 4WD, put a huge turbo on it, and still drive the correct lines through the course. Why do that at 40 mph when it's much more fun at 140 mph?
@Cognitive Friction: I get sweaty and all bent out of shape watching two people playing chess. YMMV.
I understand what you are saying, but driving a car at 140MPH vs 40MPH on the same track is two entirely different scenarios. Both are fun, but to me, they are not the same kind of fun, even if they are both racing.
I will forgive all past mistakes in the delaying of this game so long as it is released before the end of 2009. I am a faithful PS3 owner cursed to continue to play street fighter 4 even after achieving a top 100 rank and making online play redundant. you will not allow me to play GT4 on my PS3 and I since sold my PS2. Yet I am still willing to forgive all should GT5 be in my hand by the time my nephew unwraps his fire engine and hot wheels.
Any one else find it just a little nepotistic of GT5 to release screen shots of a GT-R when FM3 is releasing pictures of a ton of cars that are going to be in their sim?
Also great news V8 Supercars will be a part of FM3 so to all those people who want a road race version of NASCAR can play that when it comes out.
@mr_dude:
Polyphony is once again saving me time and money. I saw the new "It only does everything" commercials yesterday, PS3 is down to $299. But with the GT5 delays I'm thinking: my DVD VCR combo will hold up a little longer, I can do without a Blu-Ray and the inflated cost of the accompanying movies, I'm not hopelessly hooked on HD, I don't need to upgrade my cable yet. Plus, the lack of all those things gives me ample time to work on the house and in the garage. Thank goodness for Polyphony's ridiculous release schedules (a sentiment Microsoft echoes, I'm sure).
@Dhillaz 2.0: There's plenty of great xbox material, depending on what you're into. I'll get a PS3 when GT5 comes out, and buy MGS at the same time. Until then, why?
@mr_dude: Well, I have no preference between XBOX and PS3, but I really don't like the idea of paying to use my own console and games on the internet (even if they slashed the prices).
At the same time, I'd kill just to play GTAIV...and the fact Episodes of Liberty City is exclusive to XBOX puts me in a real dilemma.
@Dhillaz 2.0: $50 is not much for a years worth of entertainment and for Microsoft to run a server farm.
I have read multiple stories that GT5 was going to closely follow GT PSP, which comes out in October. I wouldn't be surprise to see it out before christmas, especially with the competition releasing their update soon. I already have an xbox though, so my decision is made.
@Cognitive Friction: I've got Burnout: Legends (I think) for PSP and its pretty sweet, running other people off the road for fun is both helping me with my commute and keeping me from selling my PSP (until this of course)
