the winning mod to this would be to hook up one of those sensors that you see on pro photographer strobes that let all the big strobes slave to the flash on the camera. when the device detects the flash of the speed camera, black out.
of course, that would defeat the whole safety purpose of speed cameras, and that would be wrong, so just forget i said anything. #speedcameras
Wasn't there a story about a guy who wears a Monkey Mask while driving, and got out of 45 moving violations by saying it cant be proven that he was driving when the violations took place?
Wouldn't that just be cheaper, and less illegal, than this? #speedcameras
Not particularly useful for those looking to block cops from looking up their license plate or blocking traffic cameras. Needs to be automatic. #speedcameras
To bad it just blacks it out. How much for one that makes it look like a totally different plate? Or better yet, replaces it with the Laughing Man logo? #speedcameras
@tempesjo: Y'know, that button is AWFULLY close to the "Eject R" button. I think my girlfriend would really hate it if I hit the wrong key. #speedcameras
I believe the license plate caught in this photo to be serendipitous, the initial prompt for camera phone photography was the M3 turn signal, previously thought not to exist and even now extremely rare in the wild.
Seriously, some of you guys don't get the stutter?
M M M. Three Ms. M3. This is a horribly overused trope in personalized BMW plates. I have this awful feeling that this guy had a hearty chuckle when he thought of this, and that it probably still makes him think how clever he is every time he walks out to the car.
As bad as that is, it isn't as bad the plates that simply list the year and model of the car (which is acceptable if you are driving, say, a 48 Tucker or some other piece of auto obscura, but not if you are drive a "93 Probe.")
Having been as judgmental as I can be, I'm now going to admit that I don't know how to feel about the plates that just list the engine or model designation (like, e.g., SR20DE or, in this case, S54B32, or E46 M3C). They have the advantage of skimming over the heads of the non-cognoscenti, and have lots of nerd cred...but are they too cute/too easy?

@FormerlyPreferredCustomer: I'm generally anti-vanity plate, but I do like non-state-issued vanity plates (eg Euro/Asian plates).
The front of my car is a real German EU plate (non-registered) that says "VITAMNB5" as a nod to the chassis model. Kind of cheesy, yes, but it does a great job covering the existing holes and providing better visibility to other drivers (reflective and contrasting against the dark green car).
@Ash78: I always wanted to get one for our Mk IV GTI 1.8T that said "PIECHY," but I figured that other than me there were about 4 people in the world that would get it. And those people would think I was the world's biggest dork. And they would have been right.
@Ash78: Likewise, I got a similar plate reading "CORRADO" for Christmas from my ex-girlfriend's mother. It was the second present I received, and ran outside in my pyjamas to put it on the car.
@Deartháir II The Return: You lucky folk who can do whatever you please on the front end of your cars... Oregon is a two plate state and the five oh can be real sticklers about it. So we're stuck trying to find room for disproportionate North American plates on front bumpers designed for no plates at all. They don't care for the front plate in the windshield either, not that it looks good to begin with.
I don't care for the painfully obvious vanity plates either... I didn't need you to tell me it was a GT STNG, you've got emblems that say Mustang GT that's how I figured the whole thing out.
@TimTim: i know what you mean with the two plate state thing... wouldn't believe how many times i got pulled over driving an IN car in NE they're sticklers (in the small towns especially) for it too....
@nick2ny: When I was a teenager a friend and I had a summer job one year working for a contractor at a resort in the mountains. He would let us take his truck to get supplies which required a trip down the mountain. When coming back up we always had great fun getting in front of some out-of-towner, who were usually driving a Cadillac or a Mercedes, and drive at the slowest speed possible, but at a high enough speed that made it unsafe to pass. In the straights we would floor it, and once in the curves we would slow down and do the same routine again and repeat all the way up the mountain. We would point out the window like we were sight seeing and just yuck it up. The roads were very curvy and treacherous and most the visitors were not very used to driving in that environment. Looking back it probably wasn’t the brightest thing we did, and could have led to an accident, but we thought it was great entertainment.
ex-PJ/PH/Dominhoes delivery driver (full-time, no less). Have lost vast sums of money due to jack-assery like above. Would you want someone holding up your dinner? Well, would you?
If someone's being a flagrant jackass, there's nothing wrong with returning the favour. If they're just speeding slightly and leaving sufficient distance between their vehicle and others, leave 'em be. Dickery is only appropriate as a response to dickery.
@FP - Activity resumes!: I have never understood the "drive slow in front of someone driving fast" line of thinking.
Me, yes I LOVE to drive fast and appreciate the hell out of anyone who has the courtesy to move if they are driving slower. In turn, I do the same if someone is behind me.
Why be a dick? Why would you WANT someone pissed off behind you? Whether or not the accident is your fault or theirs, you could still get in an accident and ruin your day and your car.
Let em go, if they really are that much of jackass it WILL eventually catch up to them.

That, plus it'll fly back & slice yours or your passenger's head off when you accellerate rapidly from a dead start.
Oh, come ON!!!! Don't tell me you've never had THAT happen before! :)

OK, then let's suggest some other options to this guy along this same theme:
MMMORON
MMMANIAC
IMMMODEST
MMMADCOW
DUMMMASS
MMMANHO
MMMILF (for his wife)
Or, probably the most apt for someone like this person, but I don't think it would fit, in any state...
MMMISANTHROPE.
