    I see this as a slippery slope. Sure, great for people who don't like driving, and I still have the option of driving my own car if I want, so say the powers that be. Saves gas, cuts down congestion.


    Soon enough, they decide that I too should be using one of these, and next thing you know, I am stripped of my car and confined to this pod.


    Personally I don't want it. Take these dreamers to Disneyworld and let them ride the monorail.

    But will the transportation pods still take on the characteristics of their manufacturers? BMWpods would be programmed to follow other pods closely, and cut them off without warning. Toyotapods will travel about 10mph slower than all the other pods. Jaguarpods would be appointed like a proper British lounge, but wouldn't work unless it was sunny and 68 degrees.

    @engineerd hates hydrogen leaks: I kind of agree with Peter on this one - the concept, at least in theory, allows the privacy and freedom of mobility that turns most people off public transit, while taking the human (re. dumbass) element out of controlling traffic flow. And then environmental friendliness, fewer Toyota Camrys, saving gas for those of us that really want to use it, etc.
